Lupo (1) got ripped a new one by the internet community, (2) his video backfired, turning into a tidal wave of anger, (3) Anon got hold of his personal information, and it is now everywhere....

His name is Max, he is 16.

He has said that "Microsoft called him and apologized, and said that bill gates is formally investigating, and that The Pro will be fired", and a whole bucked of lies after that video. He also made another attempt at getting support with a subsequent video about how moderators are corrupt.

Recently he made a major apology video that he posted on his youtube, as well as altering his "about me" to read:

He has deactivated his youtube account, his twitter, and his facebook. However, with the shit-storm that he brought upon his head, I highly doubt that is the end.

People are, for whatever reason, siding against The Pro. Well, some people are... very few.

They feel that the tone he used was inapropraite, that he was talking down to them, and they had all right to retaliate. These people feel that The Pro should not be a moderator for the reason that he did retaliate and he did react to the kids. (there was an original 40 minute video, that has since gone missing?)

The Pro is a hero to the xbox live community, those of us who actually have an IQ and sense that is not equivilant to that of a pear. It is this situation, and the millions, neigh billions, like it that casue me to question the usefulness of the human race. The internet is populated by kids like these. Kids who, as put by one Komrade Kayce, were sat infront of a computer before they were handed a book.

Kids who think that trash talking, racisism, homophobia, and general lacking in volcabulary beyond a basic 15 words. Kids who are prone to outbursts, and are incapable of rational thought.

These are the vast majority of people encountered, especially in the First Person Shooter universe.

There are also people that think that xbox live should not be moderated, that nothing should be. Since they are paying for it, they should be allowed to do whatever /they/ please. These are people who think that 50$ a year of their parent's money gives them the right to say and do what they want. As lupo learned, it doesn't work that way.

What the fuck is the point of horses? Seriously? In today's world what purpose do they serve? They don't function as pack animals anymore, we have trucks for that. They don't function as mounts for long journeys, we have automobiles. They don't really work as glue either, cows work just fine. They don't work as farm animals, since we have tractors... or oxen.

Pretty much all they do is eat a shitload of grain, poop, and be pretty fucking useless.

unless shit goes bottom's up, an apocalypse of sorts ensues, and we need horses to be mounts for our enforcers - knights. That seems like the only realistic reason to keep horses around.

So... keep doing what you do horsies... you shall be needed soon enough.

As I'm sure everyone who is awesome is aware: there is a live action Avatar: The Last Airbender movie coming out. Avatar was a 3 season cartoon broadcast by Nicktoons (the fella's who also brought: Danny Phantom, Invader Zim, Spongebob... and... um... a bunch of other un-nameables.). For a ytv cartoon is was pretty awesome, and if you don't believe that, believe wikipedia: "garnering 5.6 million viewers on its best-rated showing and receiving high ratings in the Nicktoons lineup, even outside its 6–11-year-old demographic."

Anyway, now there is a movie coming out, a live action movie. Now, in the past, live action remakes of cartoons generally are pretty shitty (disbaring of course the Ninja Turtles movie, that was hardcore stuff), case in point: The Super Mario Bros. movie.

To make the movie... much more likely to succeed.... [kill me now... i think i just said that... ew. IT WAS SARCASTIC] M. Night Shyamalan (the tool that brought you: The Happening... Lady in the Water... The Village... although i did kind of like Unbreakable, the sixth sense, and Signs). I would have prefered Uwe Boll do the movie.... who am I kidding... M. Night is the lesser of two evils there me thinks.

God damn... i really am only going to go see this because of what it is... It'll be like the Dragon Ball (Z?) movie... fuck that shit.

Oh, and because of who directs it, I will spoil the ending: Aang will turn out to be not the Avatar, but the firelord, the person he is to destroy.

Making friends on the internet is what I do. "Please don't hate me because of my superior intellect and sarcastic attitude" seems to be my life motto.

People hate me. It is just a fact that when you whip out any form of logic, the general population of the internet feels the need to be belligerent, poorly so might I add. There have been many discussions started, particularly on facebook, on account of the lack of tolerance i have for forums (therefore giving them a wide space on the internet, especially 4chan), about such wonderful things as "grammar" or "punctuation" or "the lack of decent insults". All are true if you take time to consider it, grammar/spelling and correct typing were lost somewhere around the turn of the century, replaced by run-on sentances all typed out in this manner: "i seen u at teh moviz! lol ur soooo gay".

When correct grammar and/or spelling comes along, to correct mistakes, it is often met with 'insult'. There are usually some people who agree with the statements made, but a vast amount more that disagree.

Case and point: This Facebook Group where I started aparently a 'war' with a simple wall post. The importance of grammar and especially punctuation has been forgotton.

Look at the following sentences:

Don't stop.

Don't, stop.

The first is a request to continue with the action; the second is the exact opposite -- it's saying that the action should cease. (Cast your mind back to a couple of real-life situations you've experienced and just think of the ramifications of leaving out that little punctuation mark!)

Commas are used to indicate a short pause -- they alert the reader to the fact that the next thought will be connected to the one that has preceded it. (A full stop tells the reader that a new thought is about to start.)

Some writers adopt the "when in doubt, leave it out" approach, but, as we've already seen in the example above, the placement of a comma can radically alter the meaning of a sentence:

He was kicked by a mule which annoyed him. (The mule annoyed him.)

He was kicked by a mule, which annoyed him. (Being kicked annoyed him.)

Sometimes, omitting a comma can lead to ridiculous meanings:

While mother was cooking the baby wandered away.

Often, commas have to be used to avoid ambiguity in sentences:

You don't really like it; you're only pretending to please me.

You don't really like it; you're only pretending, to please me.

These sentences have two quite different meanings -- as a result of the placement of the comma.

Using intelligence is often the best route for insults, the people you are trying to stop from talking, will usually have to stop and think about what you just said. Or they will run and cry to their mommies, whichever comes first.

English to Elven translator

For everyone who doesn't have JRR Tolken's English to Elven dictionary (or to the people who have lost said dictionary) that site is an amazing tool. I have seen no fault in the database when compared to my dictionary (when i still had it).

Having an english to elven translator on hand really doesn't have many uses, but guaranteed you will never be able to find one (that doesn't suck) when you need one. So far i have found it is quite handy if you want to (a) explore the interesting language JRR Tolken made, (b) come up with a bitch'n character name for a game, or (c) want to tell someone you love them... in elven.

2010 also means New Years resolutions, and of course looking over my blog here i have realized something. In October 2008 i had more posts than all of 2009. That is not cool... so um... i'll most likely work on fixing that... That's all you get, a loosely applied possible resolution.

2010 is an interesting year for gaming at least. Mass Effect 2, Dead Rising 2, (Halo) Reach, (World of Warcraft) Cataclysm, Dead Space 2, and a couple of others that I can't think of are all set to launch in 2010. Here's hoping most people have jobs.

Space is a very interesting topic. Both types of space actually.

Space: a blank area
Space (Outer): any location outside the Earth's atmosphere.

Everyone enjoys blank areas, that are usually reserved for something. In other words: this is my lego play-space. This is your space in which you can nap. This is my sexy-time space... and so is this... and that too.

Not everyone enjoys Outer Space... but they should.

Outer Space has very distinct forms of loving it. You can love it from a science point of view, from a history point of view, from a geography point of view, you can love it from an astronomy point of view, you can love it from an astronaut point of view, you can love it from a science-fiction point of view, etc. My favourite(s) being the last 2 (disbarring of course 'etc').

Who doesn't want to be an astronaut and walk on a surface that is not our own, go out into the galaxy and find new life, play on different surfaces, and leap around in 0G. The universe is an expansive place, and one day the hope is that we will be able to move freely among the stars, it only saddens me that i was born in the era where that wasn't happening.

The science-fiction aspect of course, represents that era; where huge galactic frigates do war in space, or where humanity has colonized distant planets, or where deep-core mining ships traipse the galaxy looking for raw minerals... they are all so glorious.

The phrase "[and] how are you doing?" has become far too commonly used, and has been butchered. For a phrase that is meant to inquire to someone's personal well being, it is now as commonplace as "hello". When someone says "How are you doing" the standard response is "fine, how are you?"; neither party expecting a real response, its just a formality. To actually inquire how someone is 'doing' you have to be creative with your phrasing, because synonyms of "how are you doing" imply the exact same issue due to the commonplace of the greeting. So, with that knowledge saying "how are you doing" is about the same as going "fuck you" in passing - each implies a lack of caring for the other person.

So, next time you pass someone just say "Hello". Save "how are you doing" for a time when you actually care how the other person is feeling.

Something illogical has occurred to me. When someone is scared of the dark, or noises at night, or big scary things, they hide under their covers. What doesn't make sense is it is actually much darker underneath the covers, since no light at all is able to get in. Also: with covers draped over your head how would you be able to see said horror that would be sneaking up on you to eat your flesh and defile your body.

It is all very illogical. However, that doesn't stop me from cowering beneath my covers whenever I get scared. Perhaps I shall have to consult a psychiatric specialist to find out the reason people do such a silly thing...

In the mean time I shall suggest a better means of stemming off late night fears. Get a firearm of some sort (preferably a pistol) and hide it under your pillow. Let those monsters sneak up on you!... instead of a firearm you could go with a big metal object... if you don't have one of those go for a little metal object. If you are without any of the above I suggest hiding under your bed. If you can't hide under your bed I suggest tactically withdrawing under the covers, where of course you will be much safer.

If you don't have any of those, my suggestion is... um... well that would mean your poor and sleeping outside, and in that case you have more to worry about than flesheating monsters - try hobo's, serial killers, mongoose, chickens, rabid house cats, and axe wielding murders.

Recently I have become addicted to yahoo answers. I enjoy helping people that fail at using google, in fact my info page even has a fun new quote: "If people knew how to use google, there wouldn't be a yahoo answers section for video & online games".

Obviously that is the section that I stick to, since I can be the most helpful there. The neat thing about yahoo answers is you get points for answering questions, and more points for getting the BEST answer (and it makes you feel like a hero). Now, I've been using it for 3 days, and have answered 41 questions, received 3 best answers, and 36 of the questions are still open (so I might get best answer for them still, and most likely will).

Its fun, but obviously since I'm blogging about it, it has its downside. That actually isn't the stupid people that can't use google, they make me giggle. When I can spend 5 seconds googling something, and copy and past the answer and the url (as my source), its funny. It is the people with HORRIBLE spelling, grammar, questions, or... well... not questions. To show my frustration with some of these people:

i am a human warroir and i like my warroir a lot. but a lot of people say that the warroir sucs.and i think i want to become a death knight but i want too be a waroir. im just wondering if the death knight is better than the warior or r they the same. i really want to be a waroir but people say it sucs.and i was just thinking when blizzard makes a new expansion pack they might make the waroir better. so my main question is the waroir or death knight better.please tell me the differences. and also i really like my waroir im in lvl 16 and i am thinking of becoming a deathknight.but want to be a waroir forever.but people say they suc. i will give u 10 points.

See? WHAT THE HELL?! Usually they aren't that bad, but there are a lot of times where I have to figure out what the person is asking before I can even answer their question, sometimes I just give up.

I stick to answering questions in the video & online game section (which, I guess is where the stupid people are, damn 1337 kids and their hibbity hop spelling for "u" and "r" and "ne") but that doesn't mean I don't go check out other sections for a laugh, for an upchuck, whichever. For instance:

"I had unprotected sex today, stupid i no, but i got my period yesterday, will i still get preganant?" - that means she was on her period while having sex... unprotected sex.... /barf.

Christian Bale is starring in Terminator 4 as John Conner. While on set, doing his acting thing, apparently the light guy had to cut across the area (the cameras were not rolling at the time). What do normal people go? Pause and wait. What does Batman do? Rips off his head and rapes the corpse.

He verbally raped this camera man, for a good 2 minutes, at least. Since youtube is... well... youtube, somehow the audio recording made it up. However, what this means is there has been about 3,000,000,000 spoofs and distortions of the original, so its kind of buried. However, family guy did a spoof using the actual recording of Bale.

[long time no post. With school, WoW, my comic, and my girlfriend, it is kind of hard to get around to update, however I will stick to a schedule if an agreeable one is posted in the comments section of this post.]

When someone says "famous people" the first thought of most is the Hollywood Stars, or stupid blonds who abuse their fame, and are stupid. However, the internet community has its own famous people, that are equally, if not more so, awesome.

At the forefront of internet stars are the Web Comic writers, and the Youtube stars. This is about the second category. I was going to go into a whole bunch of the more famous youtubers and what they do and such, but then I thought...

No.

Souljaboy is one of those 'stars' so screw that crap. Also the vast majority are either really really really stupid, or gay and stupid. I forgot to mention the Parquor people, and the continental dancers. If your really interested in the famous of youtube, they had an award ceremony where a large amount of said famous people showed up. That would be [here].

The person I will talk about, is one with actual talent: Bo Burnham. This is a 18 year old, that sings some really hilarious songs, that are well done. He was at that award ceremony. Actually, there will be less talking about him, and more going "if you don't know about this guy, check him out, here are links to all his current youtube songs". Note: when I say good, I mean he has played at concerts because of his youtube fame.

Sorry, but the songs that he does that are on youtube the piano is a little loud (when the piano is used). However if you feel the need I know thepiratebay happens to have his CD "Bo Fo Sho" (I do not support Pirating this... *cough*). His CD also has 3 songs that ARE NOT on youtube (from bo), but are fucking amazing.

'ze zombies are coming!

A roadsign on the side of a highway in Austin, Texas warns motorists of what is up ahead - living dead apocalypse.

That is what the sign really said, and the picture was taken on a cell phone camera. However, the sign is not of the legal, or literal manner. It was in fact the work of a 'hacker' who broke the lock, and reprogrammed the sign to say "CAUTION! ZOMBIES AHEAD!!!! SEEK COLD CLIMATES!". Then the 'hacker' changed the password on the lock, and ran away, meaning the sign had to be fully reset.

Rumour has it that this was a just an advertising scheme by Capcom for Resident Evil 5. However an official statement from a Capcom employee states that this 100% had nothing to do with them, since it is illegal. That doesn't stop them from receiving free marketing however.

A lot of people aren't too happy about this, mainly the police. This "work of a master hacker" doesn't really break major laws, the most severe is actually "vandalism". The "master hacker" comment was made by Austin's Chief of Police."How to Hack a Road Sign" has been posted on the Internet, and to me it doesn't seem like a very hard thing to do... in fact it seems like its pretty easy.

So, a lot of people have fond memories of the show Escaflowne. It was one of the first anime on TV that were pretty widely watched by a younger audience. The show is (in a nutshell) about a group of people who pilot medieval mechs, on a mythical planet, fighting against an evil nation.

More of the people reading this however, probably remember the show Monster Rancher. That also had a person who got teleported to a mythic land to fight an evil nation of baddies. However, instead of mechs, they had monsters that they summoned from discs they found.

I fondly remember both of these shows, and have actually recently watched both; Monster Rancher was last year, and I just spent the weekend watching Escaflowne. While watching Escaflowne the first time (first of this time, so friday)), I watched it in Japanese with English subs (everyone who watches anime knows the japanese voices are much better, however sometimes the case is not wanting to read). The second time I watched it with my girlfriend, and she wanted to watch it in english, because she 'remembered the english being OK'. It wasn't. However, as I was watching it I realized something: Escaflowne, has many of the Monster Rancher voice actors.

Bell sympatico sucks, everyone knows this. Mostly because of those fun hidden charges, such as: "cheapest, fastest internet" what they don't tell you is: you have to pay double the listed price, because you have to rent the router. Their service staff seem as though they have never actually used a computer before, and that you interrupt their day by calling. Their "fastest internet" is apparently a 8mb/s connection. However that would mean that in such things as WoW, my latency should be almost 0, not upwards of 150.

The most fun thing about bell however, is that they have a limit on bandwidth. The top account they have can only have an upload/download limit of 60gigs a month. A lot of people go "I don't download that much, in a month, thats fine". Everything you do contributes to this: World of Warcraft, torrents (to figure out how much this will cost you, its not just the size of the download, because remember your uploading at the same time, so multiply the download by about 1.5 to find out the toll it will take), youtube, etc.

For each gig that you go over the limit, you are charged $1.5. Did I mention that bell doesn't actually mention this anywhere? that its only after your charged, if you ask, that they tell you. Anyway, I'm already over this month, which means I'm paying the extra fee, and there are still 5 days to go before next month.

I didn't read the whole list because you guys did one per page...yeah I know...100 other posters said the same thing...WELL I'M 101 DAMNIT! Naruto better make it close to if not top 10 on this list. Yes...even though I've never actually watched the whole series FMA should be higher (come on...who is making this list...is this person an anime fan?) Also there it would be a tragedy if Berserk is not high on this list. Oh and when I say Naruto I mean the Japanese with English Subs version, not the cheesy Cartoon Network crap. Hookers are people who except money for sex. However a 13 year old boy allegedly got this fact a little wrong.

This boy a his friends (allegedly) were staying in a hotel room after they won a World of Warcraft Tournament. They ordered pop and junk food, and when the delivery guy got there the boy asked where he could find "some women and they were willing to pay". The delivery guy alerted the police and when they showed up the boy and his friends were playing Halo 3 on their xbox 360... with 2 $1000-a-night hookers. Apparently the hookers "thought there was something wrong when the boys would rather play Halo then, make use of their services". When the police arrested the boy (for fraud) he was found to have paid for everything with his father's stolen credit card, saying "My father wont mind, he forgot to buy me a present the week before.

It may not be World of Warcraft, but it is still an online game. It happens to be second life. Second life is like the Sims... only more mature. You can get a job, make money, whore your self out, find your soul mate, etc.

"Palela Alderson" (as she is liking to be called) is a 26 year old woman that always wanted to be a prostitute. She even tried it out a couple of times, but she just never got in one of those cars and drove away to have paid sex; she didn't want her family to find out and be ashamed. She still had this burning desire to be a ~~whore~~ prostitute, so she joined Second Life, and now trades sex for money.

Apparently because their famous they can totally screw with their children. Brittany Spears apparently has been asking her two sons to spy on her ex-boyfriend (K-fed) and his new girlfriend. Any time they come back from being with their father she asks them all kinds of questions like: "did she stay the night" or "~~is she a sleazy whore just like mommie?~~" or "what does she like to do". To me that seems like an abuse of her parental privileges.

MSN video is a website that displays a whole lot of 'popular' videos and such found around the internet. MSN has little thumbnail links at the bottom of the main window that will take you to the site - and the video you clicked on.

Well, when I get bored I will click on things that look 'interesting' (or have a pretty lady on them, or could be something to make fun of). Now thats where I get in trouble; most videos on MSN video are music videos, and most of those are the female singer ones. Therefore: I end up watching a lot of 'girly' music videos. That is pretty OK with me, because sometimes they are funny, but the problem is this: fuck they're catchy.

You know your a true gamer when: when life intercepts with gaming, it takes a back seat until unavoidables. Unavoidables being defined as any non-user generated wait. This includes load screens, search times, boring cutscenes, opening videos, etc.

Even though almost every game has a pause feature, it is still a habit to put whatever has come up on hold until one of the unavoidables. Pauses are only reserved for getting the phone, being yelled at, and kissing the girlfriend.

examples:
World of Warcraft: waiting to go to the bathroom while your character is resting up, or on a flightpath.
Online FPS (Halo): having to pee halfway through a match and holding it in until the match ends. Most wait until they have initiated a search for a new game.

Why? It saves time of course! Also: load screens are times that you have to wait anyway, and if you wait it seems longer. So: get up and pee.

Or... you could always keep kitty litter in the corner of your room and pretend you have a cat...

My friend Chris Vesterfelt got me a really sweet present for Christmas, and I received it yesterday from his girlfriend (because I didn't see him all break). It was a shirt, a really amazing shirt (that's me today, wearing the shirt in my long-sleeve-undershirt fashion):

Since the shirt I was wearing yesterday was one where the undershirt is attached to the overshirt it meant that I couldn't wear the shirt he got me yesterday. Then I forgot it in my locker at the end of school (I didn't want to lose it, so that's where I put it) so I wouldn't be able to wear it to school. Instead I just wore an "undershirt" (aka long sleeve shirt, no t-shirt over top) to school, and went straight to my locker (since I got there late anyway) and put the Fallout 3 shirt on.

I love it.

(I was going to get Chris a present, but I didn't have enough money to get it at the time. I was then going to give him an IOU for said gift but his girlfriend went and ruined it by telling him what I was going to get him. /pout)

Normally I complain a lot about going to school, but today was a very good day.

It started at 8:15, when I woke up; my bus comes at 8:00. That means I was automatically going to be late for school and I didn't need to ride the bus (the passengers which are mostly composed of druggie kids). Since today was Tuesday it meant that the VON (Victorian Order of Nurses; on call super-nurses) was here for my great-aunt (who has super-Alzheimer's). That meant that I couldn't leave until the VON left, which was at 9:00, which meant more sleep for me. Then, I made it to school 1/2 way through 1st period, so I didn't need to do any work there.

In second period my teacher gave me a surprise. Its an autographed picture from David Kaye. The reason she gave it to me was because about a month and a half ago she had stated that he nephew (or something like that) was the voice actor for one of the transformers, one of the big (as in major) ones. So of course I listed off who she meant, and then asked what series it was from, or what year; she didn't really know. So she got me his autograph.

The second awesome thing that happened today had to do with money. Yesterday I had to spend about an hour and fill out an online survey about post-secondary schooling. Then today I got out of all of third period, and most of fourth period to do part 2, 3 and 4. As soon as I entered the room and sat down they handed me $20. Then I filled out a 130 questionnaire about money choices (eg: would you prefer $300 now or a $2000 grant for post-secondary education). Then when I finished that I had to do a booklet with a whole bunch of basic real life application math questions. After that was quickly out of the way I went into the back room, drew a ball out. The number on the ball corresponded with one of the questions in the first booklet (the 130 question one), then I got whatever my answer was. In this case I won $75. So for doing nearly no work I won $95. Yay!

Doctor Poo

Doctor who has been a long time BBC (The UK's main TV station) hit. It ran for a total of 26 seasons, and one movie; but then it was canceled. 4 years ago they brought the show back for a new season/series. It is technically still Doctor Who, and it continues the same story and history of the old show. This time around its a little more... refined.

Well the new series started in 2005, with Christopher Ecelson playing the 9th doctor (the number continued from the old series, Chris being the newest). To keep the show running for so long BBC did a clever thing: they made it so every time the doctor 'died' he would regenerate, with a new face and personality. That way they can just change the actor and say it is another regeneration, but its still the doctor.

At the end of the first season Christopher Ecelson (Aka the 9th doctor) died and was replaced by his 10th reincarnation: David Tennant. David Tennant was by far the best person to have ever been the doctor. Without going into too much detail I'll sum him up: He's "fantastic" (ooh! reference!).

David Tennant's reign as the doctor lasted through 3 seasons, but alas it is coming to an end. According to him it is for several reasons: (1) he didn't want to be on the show too long, 'overstaying his role' (2) he wanted to move on after 3 years, (3) Russle T. Davis and the Producer are leaving. Which means that the fourth season is to be his last. He is still staying around for 4 (3 now, one aired at Christmas) more specials, but afterwards he shall be replaced.

So just who is the man replacing David Tennant as the 11th doctor? Well BBC kept it a huge secret until Saturday at 5:50pm (UK time) when a special Doctor Who Confidential aired. It showed who the next Doctor would be, the man that has to follow up the all-time greatest man ever (yes, I am possibly in love with David Tennant).

This bloke is the one replacing David Tennant for the 5th season of Doctor Who (which if I haven't mentioned is my favourite TV show):

Oh ya, that is him, that is the "bloke" playing the eleventh Doctor. To me he looks sinister, dark, and has a stupid haircut.

I highly doubt I'll even watch the 5th season because of this jerkwad. I might watch the first episode, with the sure thought in my mind that this might be the last episode of Doctor Who that I watch. If I don't mind it (doubtful) I might watch another, with the same thought, and so on.

Getting it right

HAPPY NEW YEARS!

Finally I got it right, it took me 4 tries but I got it right. Since its Christmas break I'm slightly off on what day of the week it is, let alone what day of the month it is. Therefore for the past 4 days I have been wishing various friends "HAPPY NEW YEARS" at 12:00 but then being told that I'm off...

Kind of makes you feel silly. Sillier was I had a Happy New Years post that I posted at 12:01... this morning. Then realized that I was off when I looked at the post date, that post went byebye ASAP.

WELL I hope that everyone is having a traditional New Years Blast (or having a nerdy New Years Blast - Video Games and reading blogs)! Also don't forget to make some good resolutions that will contribute to the lives of many.

My New Years Resolution: be a jerkwad on the Internet.

Well I've already said what I got for Christmas, but the day after was much better. Since it was boxing day everywhere had a massive sale, and some stores opened really early. Futureshop was on of these stores. For a while I had been looking at getting myself a DSLR camera (a.k.a. the big digital cameras... like photographers use) because I love taking pictures of well... everything that isn't people. My mom had agreed that she would get me one as a graduation present, but I got futureshop's boxingday email and it showed a really amazing camera package. I talked to my mom, and asked if I used the money I got for christmas, and the money in my bank account if I could get the camera early. She said that we could go and see if they have it. Since it was a "door crasher" deal it meant that it was only valid for the first hour the store opened... in this case 6:00 in the morning. What that meant is I had to get up at 5:00am.

My mom and I got there at 5:55am and the line was already huge.

If you know that complex, then you'll understand that at 6:00 in the morning (when the store opened) that line (represented by blue line) was into the far side of the value village parking lot.

Since they were only letting so many people in at a time (so it didn't get chaotic) my mother was constantly looking to see what everyone walking out of the store was getting, to see if anyone had gotten my prize.

We finally got in at 6:13 and went straight to the camera area, pulled out the print out, and went "hey this is what I want". The nice employee assisted in me getting my camera, and the whole bundle, plus some other stuff!

So if I do get to keep it now there is just one problem. I'm not quite sure how to use it effectively... or to take good pictures yet... just... pretty OK pictures.

Is pretty much what I got. I got presents from the extended family yesterday, and this morning I got the presents from my family. Later today I get the present from my girlfriend, and possibly her family.

Yes, I did get a panda stuffed animal, however that is from the World Wildlife Foundation. Which means the people that got it for me, helped saved a panda for me. Which means: I saved a panda for Christmas.

Fuck you VG cats, fuck you.

I have decided that I am no longer going to check the webcomic VG cats, they have let me down. They finally updated for the first time in oh... I don't know... a month. It wasn't even their main comic they updated, it was their side comic. How lame are they?

I don't even care what they say "oh it takes a long time to draw a comic". Bullshit. If xkcd and penny arcade can update without fail Monday, Wednesday, and Friday then VGcats once a week 'deadline' should be easy to meet. They aren't even as graphically intense as other comics, other comics that update, more then once a week, without fail.

For instance: Looking for Group. Its a extremely witty and amusing comic. They update twice a week, without fail. Its drawn on photoshop and it is also a lot more graphically intense then anything VG cats, penny arcade, and xkcd have put out (not knocking xkcd or penny-arcade, because they're still win). Oh, did I mention that they are also working on making a movie at the same time?

I was playing possibly the most amusing flash game. ever. Its called "Achievement Unlocked" and pretty much... the whole point of this little game is to unlock all 99 achievements. As you'll notice as soon as you start it up: you get an achievement. This is pretty much the trend of the game, everything you do gets you an achievement. FUN!

For English class I have to do Journals on the Holocaust, and it is really sucky and 'depressing'. I decided to take a quick break and have some fun blogging.

While watching shows, and such with my girlfriend I find myself frequently looking at some of the characters and commenting "she's pretty attractive, I would sleep with her (or him)". Generally she agrees. We have a very open and amusing relationship. In no way are these people we actually know, or have a chance of meeting. That I enjoy blogging. Not only does it give me something to do, it also allows me to go "hey people, this is what I think about this topic". It gets more fun than that though, because of all the fun to be had, it is when a room full of people goes silent, and then laughs at you when you say "I don't use facebook, I have better things to do. Like blog."

Apparently saying "I like to blog" or "blogging is fun" makes you a social outcast. However since I was pretty much already one of those, I am pretty OK with that. The only problem with blogging is that because it is enjoyable I generally tend to blog, instead of do homework... or business ISUs. Since I have a lag order in effect there really shouldn't be any posts, but since my homework load is making me quite the depressed child, I look for things that are fun that I can do: blog. I have been told my blog is informative and interesting, but I don't really see it.

So I'm a person who while sitting on msn will click on those stupid things that scroll by. The one that interested me was "womanizer" by Brittany Spears. Now, the word "gay" is probably floating around your head right now but I shall explain. (1) It has a picture of Brittany Spears naked, and I went "shes naked in a song again" and (2) She's still singing (apposed to her usual sleep with everyone)?

Now this video was kinda... well stupid, but not just stupid. It was Brittany Spears stupid. The video posted below took a lot of effort to actually embed, since almost all the youtube video's had the ability to copy the code disabled.

If you want those 3 minutes of your life back, well... I'm so sorry... I really am...

However there are a couple of comments I have to make about this video:

Brittany Spears looks stupid with black hair and BRIGHT red lipstick.
If she's naked in the video, doesn't that mean everyone on set has seen her naked?
Its that annoying kind of catchy.
Lastly: I have concluded that Brittany Spears has squandered most of her wealth on drugs, and boob jobs. That is why she cannot afford to have different woman in the video, just her with different colored hair and such. This is also the reason why she can't afford panties.

Like I said in a previous post (turned rant, then turned amusing Maple Story story) stupid people play video games, stupid people do stupid things, stupid people blame it on video games. Now those stupid people don't all have to be the same person, but oh well.

Stupid person number 1: Daniel Petric.

This kid is probably my hero... kinda. Since this 17 year old had a snowboarding accident last year, he has been housebound... with an infection. What that means is: "He was homebound for a year with nothing to do but watch television and play video games" [Daniel's attorney]. Now to me, that personally sounds like a blast, "oh no, poor me, all I can do is play video games all day and not do anything else" bite me.

Well apparently he owned an xbox 360, and for some reason didn't own Halo 3. Well, not "some reason", his parents wouldn't let him have it. So what do you do when your parents are stupid and won't let you get a game? ~~virtually murder their Maple Story characters?~~ you sneak out and buy it. When his parents caught him returning from the store they took the game from him, and also his xbox 360. Now, how thick are you to do that? not even a month (?) after Brandon Crisp... thats...thats just asking for it.

So where did they put the xbox and game? In a lockbox, with a gun. See this seems kind of silly to me, but this is what actually happened. Anyway so Daniel broke into the lockbox, removed his xbox, halo, and the gun. Then he went into the living room and asked his parents to sit down, because he had a surprise for them. Well that surprise was a couple rounds to the head (and im sure they were expecting macaroni necklaces). The mother died instantly, however he (having not had a chance to play halo, and get some experience shooting) didn't kill the father.

The boy was arrested, and is standing trial. Maybe he can plead insanity.

Stupid Person(s) Number 2: [underage identity protection law]^2

The best kind of crime happens in a trailer park. Since this is a "somber" story, I guess I should be more serious. However since it was committed by two children (6 years old, and 7 years old) there aren't a whole lot of details.

Pretty much what went down: these 2 kids, after playing Grand Theft Auto (one of them, 3 I think), decided to go out and find one of the local stray cats. This wasn't to go on drive by shootings with the cat... well... not exactly. The cat seemed to have been the target; they stoned the cat, then caught it and hung it in a tree... with a PS2 controller.

Now see, if the parents hadn't been cheap bastards and bought them at least a PS3, they couldn't have hung anything with the wireless controllers. Anyway the whole crime has outrage the trailer park community. The whole thing has been blamed on GTA, and the kids only get psychological reprimand.

Everyone is happy... except that cat... which I'm sure isn't too happy about the situation...

Soulja is pretty much hated by every gamer around, especially because of that news about his game coming out. However apparently someone like Souljaboy, or his music wouldn't go anywhere (its those wigger kids that hate us Nerdy kids, this is how they get back at us for us being smarter).

Anyway to show just how much the gaming world hates Souljaboy:

Know Your Foe:
In a one-on -one scenario with Soulja Boy, you’re dealing with a guy who barely pushes a 1.0 kp/d (kills per death) at level 14. Contrary to his self-professed cranking, Soulja Boy ain’t no Robocop. His primary tools of destruction are melee and AR (like a lot of Halo 3 players). Most of his gameplay is going to center on getting close to you and thwacking you with a melee.

Douse his fire in water. Super soak dat oh! Play a ranged game. Learn where the scoped weapons are and find the right place to set up a perch. Remember to crouch-walk if you want to stay off of his radar. When possible, pair your Battle Rifle with a close-quarters weapon. Grenades don’t always have to be offensive, you can throw grenades in places you’ve been or places you don’t want him to get to. Soulja Boy is probably going to chase you a lot. You should go all Ice Tea on that azz.

Know the Rules:
Frankie [O'Connor, former Bungie content manager] and I used to play a ton of 1v1 back before “Halo 3″ shipped, and while it wasn’t much of a competitive match – his hands are old and his reflexes are slow – we did do a few things to a map like Guardian to even out the balance of power (i.e. give him a small chance at staying competitive) for 1v1. At his behest we turned off things like Overshield and Active Camo, which work great in team environments, but you may not want them on for this grudge match. If Soulja Boy wants the power-ups on, regardless of what map you pick (I’d suggest Cold Storage) you have to control them.

You should set the maps in advance so that you both have ample time to learn what weapons spawn where. Learning the flow between different rooms and what weapons or grenades to use (when they are available) and then where to take those weapons is going to make or break you.

Get Inside His Head:
One on one against Soulja Boy? If you can handle it, you should just play his own music really loud into the headset during your match. He’ll either get distracted by hearing his voice inside his head or you can cling to the thin hope that he’ll start dancing and rapping along, distracting him from his much more important task at hand.

If all else fails, you should go Gilbert Arenas style and get an MLG Pro to play him for you.

If you wondering who gave us such helpful tips on assraping Souljaboy: It's the staff of Bungie (the guys who made Halo).

So there's a Halo Knight coming up at my place (just a bunch of us get together and play halo, drink pop, play pool, heroscape, etc). What that means is I've been getting back into playing some Halo 3, because it has been forever since I last played it. So I've been messing around lately, getting back into the groove (and lowering my k/d ratio... I suck since my absence). Tonight I was playing with a friend, and we were rockin' the online multiplayer matches.

There were some fun games, but then his total game experience (1 point of experience for winning a game... usually, unless its a double exp. weekend thing) hit 666 and wanted to take a screenshot of it. While we were waiting for bungie.net to upload his scores we just messed around in private matches (1vs1 offline) so it didn't screw up his experience. We ended up playing Guardian, with just sniper rifles, to improve no-scoping skill.

It was a pretty fun game, but about 30 seconds before it ended, something extraordinary happened.

just in case you can't make out whats happening, I'll describe the full scene: I charged at him and threw a plasma grenade, which was way off. From there we started circling each other and firing our sniper-rifles (no scope) quite ineffectively each other. I threw another grenade at him and at the same time he fired, and then about .5 seconds later the grenade blew up. At the time we didn't understand what happened, the grenade shouldn't have blown up that quickly, it was strange.

In going back and reviewing the video we saw what actually happened: the grenade I threw happened to pass right in front of his bullet, stopping it from hitting me. Yeah, that's not the sniper shot glitching out, it actually hit the grenade, and stopped the shot. However since it all happened really fast (in about... .7 seconds) it was impossible to get a picture of the bullet dead on connecting with the bullet, it was about... 2 frames before this shot), however you can still see where the bullet connected with the grenade, and where the grenade was... 2 frames later. From the trajectory of the bullet, it looks as though it would have hit me right in the head. So this fluky, fluky happening saved my life.

Weird.

All I have to say about this doll is: Taki the Ninja has a secret (check the nether area).

Seeing as I'm supposed the be informative in some way... I guess I'll make more then that comment: Female Ninja's need erect boobies. They're good as secondary weapons, poking people who get too close, opening cans, cutting glass, and of course: scissors.

Now that I'm done that, I guess I can make comments about what it is. That is supposed to be a Taki (from Soul Caliber) doll. Since the face, legs, clothing, boobies, and pretty much everything else looks stupid... I'll just... uh... talk about other things.

SHE HAS A HUGE PACKAGE DOWN THERE (hence: taki the ninja has a secret).

You're probably looking at that and going "woah, boobies" (whats with me and reporting about boobies lately?). However a quick google of Soul Caliber IV shows me something I didn't know...

Taki looks really creepy in this game. I mean... her costume always looked kinda... stupid as fuck, but still she was a pretty OK character (specially when you changed her costume).

Even though the dolls face is messed up, and the character's face is messed up... it's a different type of messed up. The jump suits are different colours (both are taki as hell).

The one thing they kept the same? The pointy nipples and the package. So really, you can't blame the people who made the doll, they did the best job of making a likeness that they could....

Dawn of a New War.

Dawn of War, Relic Entertainment's top selling Warhammer 40k RTS game. It has so far had 3 expansions, and each one has added more races, making it the first RTS with 12 (?) totally different playable races. The original Dawn of War game won Game of the Year, Dawn of War: Winter Assault won RTS game of the year.

It is an amazing series, and now.... it shall go on.

Dawn of War II was announced a while back, however it wasn't until late last year that any details came out about it, and it wasn't until recently that we received an actual video. If your thinking "how come they're calling it Dawn of War II, and not just another expansion" it is because this changes the game... forever.

Dawn of War II's campaign (at least) is taking a step in the opposite direction. It is still an RTS, but it capitalizes much more on the "S". As seen in the video you have squad leaders. However from all information so far, this game is like if an RTS and an RPG had a baby.

Long gone are the days of heaping nameless, faceless marines into a god-forsaken battle on some god-forsaken rock. Now each of your squad commanders have names, faces, stories. Gone are the bases, from all recent news there are no more bases, just your squads, and the items they receive for completing missions (this is single player at least).

The changes run deeper than that though... much deeper. From our trusty friend wikipedia:

There will be no base-building during the single player campaign.
The player will not be able to build new units during the missions themselves, and will only have limited reinforcement options during missions
Consequences regarding mission choices. For example there may be multiple distress calls to answer, each available for a limited duration. During a mission you may have to choose between saving civilians or obtaining War Gear.
Control of only five or six squads. However, each squad will be highly unique in their combat specialty and even voice acting.
Redesigned War Gear - War Gear can be obtained by accomplishing objectives during missions and is randomly dropped sometimes by enemies. After identification it can be equipped on squads, and stored in an RPG style inventory.
Better cover bonuses, and a new emphasis on methods of dealing with units in cover (e.g. destroying cover with grenades or ignoring cover bonuses with flamers).
Improved squad AI - for example, squads under fire will seek out cover.
- Jet troopers on a crumbling bridge will jump off the bridge, without you telling them to.
More realistically sized vehicles (i.e. larger than before).
Squads will acquire experience and become stronger as the game is played, from a new recruit to a hardened veteran.
Jetpack units take off and land more realistically (i.e. not such a linear path).
Commanders will level up and learn new abilities as well as gain different bonuses.

I don't know if I am going to like this game. It seems like its going to be like the game Commandos. However! It will have the traditional multiplayer. Some of the more Warhammer-hardened players out there might have noticed these fella's in the video:
For those not familiar with warhammer (or just what the hell those purple things are) its the Tyranids. Think...... Aliens (as in, the movies). They have been confirmed to be a multiplayer playable class as well! AWESOME. That brings the unit tally [uncomfirmed if they will all reappear in DoW II] up to.... a lot: Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Orks, Eldar, Chaos, Tau, Necrons, Dark Eldar, the Sisters of Battle, and now the Tyranids. Sweet.

A while back I posted that Souljaboy video, where he made an entire internet wide challenge to gamers - if they could beat him at Halo 3, or CoD4. Since then I haven't really heard anything about what came of that challenge, but I'm sure there was a spike in the amount Halo 3 and CoD4 was played. Souljaboy pisses off the best of us gamers, so who wouldn't want to hop on xbox live and give the rapper a spanking he wont ever forget?

Even I (for a while) sat down, dusted off my copy of halo 3 (metaphorically of course, all my games are well maintained, even if they aren't used), and entered and played game, after game, after game. All the time looking for Souljaboytellem. I never found him... the closest I came to that gamertag was "Souljaboyfan" (whom I proceeded to camp and t-bag for a whole game).

This is one rapper who needs to go down the path of a certain other rapper (that one that got shot... fiddy cent I think?). No matter how hard we try, he wont go away, and it is all youtube's fault. I'll get to that later. More importantly: since the release of his challenge, apparently some video game companies emailed Souljaboy and asked him if he wanted to make a game. He said yes.

I have concluded that the Japanese have the coolest things ever, even though most of them are naughty in some way... but! that's pretty OK because they are still hilariously funny. I am kinda curious what it is about the Japanese culture that gives them so many naughty-related things...

They had those used panty dispensers, which seems kind of weird because they were schoolgirls' panties but I guess that is still kind of borderline culturally weird.

They made Hentai, which for anyone who doesn't know is anime/video game porn. This one at least has a background as to why it was made (and also with characters like Samus Aran, I can see why there would be this type of porn). The Japanese have strict laws on pornography: any time that the naughty bits are shown it must be heavily blurred. So hentai came around for the teenage group - you know... the video game playing, anime watching people. Since they didn't have laws on this kind of material it was ok to show penis' and such. Then another law put a stop to that, so there was tentacle-hentai; because tentacles aren't penises. Then another law got passed that censored that (this is just through general Q & A with one of my ex-WoW buddies who is an avid hentai fan). However at some point they it became such a huge thing, and the Japanese kind of eased up on censorship (on hentai, real porn is still censored). The Japanese culture seems to be a very... open kind of one. They even have releases for hentai DS games and such... like... storewide releases.

Anyway so I was informed of something that to me, seemed quite fun: Pudding boobs. The strangest thing about it? it still manages to be Japanese... you know... cute and some how unoffensive.
These delectably tasty looking boobies go for about $4.00, and you get 2(ha!)! So the thing I need to look for if I ever make it to Japan: Pudding boobies (someone needs to be a pioneer and try them... and I'm willing to take one for the team.).

Video games have a baaaaad reputation, and from that: gamers have a bed reputation. Actually I think it is anything that forces you to use your imagination in some way, shape, or form has gotten a bad reputation.

There have been many cases of people doing stupid things and blaming it on Video Games, D&D, Rammstien, etc. All of these get a special case in the spot-light. However it kind of brings into question (from me at least) why?

Why are these things always blamed for bad things that happen? Everything causes things to happen: gambling causes people to die, football takes away a lot of your life, etc. I believe strongly in the fact that people blame it on video games because they need a scapegoat of some variety. If parents had to sit down and go "wow... our kid was just messed up..." it would be 'horrible' for them. So: they get some form of solace going "grrrr... video games made him do it" or "angry music made them do it". If more people started to realize that the human race is one fucked up entity, it would drive most people bonkers.

Lets see here. The kids that walked into the school and shot a whole bunch of people (featured in Bowling for Columbine) were fucked up kids in the first place. They had extreme mental problems and rage issues.

Brandon Crisp. Everyone is saying how he was completely obsessed with his game. Which he probably was kinda obsessed. However the prime thing is that he was part of a guild which required him to come on every day and play for a bit. That's apparently a huge deal but... does anyone realize that a football team requires you to do this as well?

A 43-year-old Japanese piano teacher finds herself in jail because she viciously committed heinous murder... virtually... in MapleStory. To make it worse, it was her virtual-HUSBAND!

If you didn't click the link I'll give you a little synopsis of MapleStory. Its a 2D free side-scrolling MMORPG. You go around and kill things and level up (in a very cute manner). The game also has a social aspect to it, the same as every other MMO. However this one has an aspect that very few others have: marriage. Sure World of Warcraft allows you to buying a tux, a wedding dress, a bouquet of flowers, and wedding rings (I just realized what Matt Davis should get his girlfriend for Christmas!) but MapleStory allows you to actually marry your "toons".

This woman had been virtually married for over a year to a 33-year-old Japanese man she had never met before. I am curious to know how these two love-birds met, if one said in general chat "Looking for someone to be my virtual boyfriend" and it just virtually advanced from there. Anyway so about mid-may (the news got to us late, and I got to blogging about it late) the man up and virtually divorced his piano teacher wife. He however didn't give her a reason at all. (I wonder if she gets 1/2 the experience and a steady flow of gold each month from him)

"I was suddenly divorced, without a word of warning. That made me so angry,"

So what does someone do when they are virtually divorced suddenly? Do what normal people do and eat lots of ice cream (or in her case, virtual ice cream). Bah no! You commit virtual murder! She hacked into his MapleStory account, and deleted his character... from existence. Later she was arrested and is facing charges of ~~virtual murder~~ illegally accessing a computer and manipulating data. If she is found guilty she will face 5 years in prison and a $5000 fine.
So remember boys and girls. If one day you find yourselves virtually divorced: just go down to the local inn, spend about 50 gold on ale, and drink away your sorrows. Don't do anything harsh and virtually murder anyone.

So about 5 days ago I posted "Love from the best" about the guy that sings the Mario Love Song. Now I thought this song was brilliant, and original. I blogged about it, I added it to my youtube favorites, and so far I have watched it quite a bit, because it is really really good. However today was the first time that I noticed that it had numerous set "video replies" (or whatever they're called). So I sat there and went through them, and found some pretty good covers of the song, a guy playing at a open-mike-night, and then... this:

No one likes Circuit City/the Source, next to no one shops there, they are usually drastically overpriced, unhelpful, and understocked. This is probably one of the reasons they had to file for bankruptcy (apart from the shit economy).

However what is bad for them, is good for us. They are having a massive sale on most of their stuff.

The coolest thing? $199.99 xbox 360 arcade kit - that's the normal pricing, it only comes with a controller and no Hard Drive. It is generally a rip off. However: add their $40 20gig HD and controller bundle and you save quite a bit of money, and end up with 2 controllers.

If you have the money to by a laptop, I'm kinda thinking it would be a good idea to buy one from Circuit City... like... now. See? You save from $40-300 depending on the laptop.

Since I live in the KPR school board area I got a P.A. day on friday. What that meant was I had thursday night to stay up late, I had friday night to stay up late, and I have saturday night to stay up late-ish. Also my girlfriend has been gone since wednsday (but I haven't seen her since monday, /sad) which means I had all weekend to game, and watch movies.

Left 4 Dead
Brendan (my brother) came up/over on thursday and brought Left 4 Dead with him, which meant I had a chance to play it for realz. Since he later had friends over I spent most of the night playing this, and then went to bed. He left early in the morning and forgot to take his game back with him, which meant I had it from thursday to saturday.

For everyone who doesn't know about this game, it is a zombie survival game. You play through the game as 4 survivors trying to get to safety from the zombie attacks. Sounds pretty traditional right? Bah no! The zombies are FAST, there are a lot of them, and they never stop. Oh, and there are 5 types of special infected as well - Smokers (who used to be heavy smokers before the zombie plague. They're like lickers from Resident Evil), Hunters (used to be druggies. They pounce on survivors and rip them to little bits, unless they're shot off the survivor), Boomers (used to be fat people. They can spew bile, which attracts a horde of the standard zombies to the survivor(s) that was barfed on), Tanks (used to be bodybuilders. Hulking masses, there are generally very few of these per level, but they take a lot of damage and deal out a lot more. Good thing? they're slow and turn poorly), and witches (used to be children. Bitches to fight. They sit around and cry and moan and have scary music and such. Technically if all the survivors don't want to fight one, they just have to walk by her quietly and turn off their lights. If she is startled then she will tear apart the person who startled her).

There are four campaigns: No Mercy, Dead Air, Death Toll, and Blood Harvest. Each campaign is broken up into 5 different parts, each part you and the three other survivors (Zoey, Bill, Francis, and Louis) have to get from safehouse A to safehouse B, except in the final chapter because then you have to get to whatever the mode of rescue is. The campaign can be played solo, or splitscreen, or with friends over xbox live, or with random people over xbox live.

The No Mercy campaign is set in a city - more specifically it is set in an apartment, some streets, some sewers, and a hospital. At the end of the campaign you have to alert the helicopter that is searching for survivors and then fight off hordes of zombies until the lazy ass helicopter pilot finally decides to rescue you; then you just have to cheese it from wherever you decided to fight the zombies to the helicopter.

The Dead Air campaign is set in an airport (big surprise there). This was probably by far my favorite of the campaigns. You have to leg it through this airport, and eventually you end up out on the airstip where there is a plane that desperately needs to be refueled. When you start the gas pump, the zombies get attracted to the noise and prest-o you have to fight through a bucketload of zombies.

The Death Toll campaign requires you to run your ass through some woods, and eventually a train station. In the end you get to a little house by the lake, contact the National Guard, fight off a whole lot of zombies, and get on a boat.

The Blood Harvest campaign has you running through forests again, but this time you also get to run through a farm field (which at night and surrounded by zombies is quite the scary adventure). However when I did this I was with ryan and he was on the headset. Since he has owned the game since it has come out, and played it to death, he knew his way around. So with his help of guiding me (via headset directions, he had already died) I got through this field and to the farm in about 30 seconds (most people wander around there for quite a long time). When you get into the house you give the military a ring and they tell you they're on the way, but they aren't the only ones. The house is about to get raped by zombies. Once again you have to fight off hordes of zombies and such until an army APC comes and you get on board and drive off.

This game also has a versus multiplayer mode. In this mode 4 people start off as the survivors and 4 start off as the special infected (the numbers aren't usually 4 on 4, thats just the max). The team that starts out as the survivors have to run, leap, and gun there way though each chapter of the selected campaign. The survivor's goal is to get to the safe room alive, the infected's goal is to stop them. After they complete (or get all killed by the infected) the roles switch and you do it all over again. Each round/chapter (you do the whole campaign, switching roles at the end of the chapter so the other team can do the chapter) the survivor team is ranked on how well they did - final health, final amount of survivors left, level completion, etc. The team that starts the round as the infected just have to stop the survivors. The infected team consists of 2 hunters, a smoker, and a boomer; sometimes a player might be chosen at random to be a tank. Generally they have a spawn count of 20 seconds between death, and when you spawn/respawn you spawn as whichever the missing special infected is.

The coolest thing about this game however is that pretty much everything changes from time-to-time. It is extrememly rare for a survivor to repeat something you've heard him say before - they have a huge data-bank of things to say. The placement and density of zombies in a level will always change, the amount of special infected and their placement will change, the location of witches will change, the amount of times you see a tank will change. Pretty much the only thing that doesn't change is world-objects.

My only real problem with the game is people are really stupid online. The game really focus' on teamwork, but most of the time everyone does their own thing, and dies frequently (as the infected). Since the zombies will actually never stop coming the survivors have to keep moving and leg-it to the saferoom; that rarely happens. Usually the people playing are really friggen thick; everyone moves through the level going room-by-room, or they double back often, or they just pretty much walk through a level, or you have Johnny the brave/stupid idiot who startles the witch often, etc.

My Rating: Definitely a game that has an enormous amount of replay value. The zombie killing action in this game is top-notch. It has a good balance of multi-player and single-player-story.

Prince Caspian
Saturday night I took a quick 2 hour break (it is quick in comparison to how much I was playing) from my video games and sat down with my parents to watch Chronicles of Narnia (2): Prince Caspian.

Personally I found the first movie to be on the high-side of crap, and the only thing it had going for it was that it had a pretty cool battle scene at the end. Boy was I surprised by the vast improvement in Prince Caspian.

The story takes place 1 (and 100 of Narnia's years) after the children left Narnia before. The children get summoned to Narnia when Prince Caspian (of the evil humans) blows the girl's horn. They find their old Narnia is gone, and it is no longer the happy place it once was. The [evil humans] had quested into the lands of Narnia and all but extinct-ified the Narnians (their word, not mine) not long after the children disappeared. The movie takes on a pretty dark tone becuase now almost nothing in Narnia is magical - most of the animals are wild now, the trees don't dance, etc. At one point in the movie Lucy (the littilest one) goes up to a bear trying to talk to it and it attacks her.

Prince Caspian had to flee to Narnia because his Uncle [spoiler: who killed Caspian's father, Caspian] wanted to kill him so he could take the throne. Caspian meets up with some nice dwarves, and a badger, and finds some other animals that still talk. Eventually he joins up with them (im just browsing over this so as not to give too much away) in the fight against his Uncle, who now knows that Narnian's exist.

The cast of the movie is quite good, especially Caspian, Peter, Edwin (who doesn't suck in this movie), the girl who's name I don't remember, and couple new animals.

In this movie Peter is much cooler. He is much more the valiant knight type. Even though he does get stupid-moody in certain places in the movie, I still found him to be much more epic this time around.

He is also quite dashing, and looks good in armor.

Susan is the archer of the group, and even though she is quite annoying sometimes I still found myself looking at her and going "she is quite attractive".

Edmund in this movie isn't annoying or useless. In fact he is quite the opposite. He fights, he doesn't ever cry or accept sweets from a hideous ice-witch, and he looks quite good in armor.

Ah, Prince Caspian: the Latino Lord. Since this movie is shot in Spain (I think) the majority of the cast is spanish, including the Prince here. Even though he does have an accent it really isn't that big of a deal because all of the [evil humans] have the same accent.

He's a really good character because he's flawed, but at the same time ~~gorgeous~~ epic and courageous (~~and looks good in armor~~).

Oh that lucy...

If you thought she was an annoying, bratty little tree hugger in the first movie well I have a story for you: she's still an annoying, bratty little tree hugger. Only this time because everyone else is much more epic and awesome, you notice it a lot more. By about 10 minutes into the movie she was getting on my nerves, by the end of the movie I decided that if I ever met her actress I would punch her in the face.

If you don't recognize the actor: its the midget who is in everything (with... midgets...). He plays the "Children of Adam" 's guide/friendly dwarf in the movie. He is actually a pretty cool character, and I was impressed that they did a really good job with makeup and what-not that it is really hard to tell who the actor is.

Reepicheep: think puss-in-boots, just smaller. He's a valiant warrior of Narnia, but about 4 inches tall. Reepicheep provides much of the comic relief in the movie, because of the obvious: cute valiant warrior mouse aspect. He's not just for comic relief though, he does fight, and kill, and does a damn good job at it too.

My Rating: its a watch again movie for sure.

The other day I decided to try and learn dvorak [it is a different key-set, made for more efficient typing]. So I was sitting in English spent a good 20 minutes trying to figure out how to switch the language (apparently windows makes you enable something, that you need to enable something else to get it to work). I finally managed to make it so I can switch my keyboard to Dvorak. It is really hard trying to learn Dvorak on a Qwerty keyboard. What I had to do was make a little picture and put it up in the corner of my screen.

Its a fun learning experience and all, but honestly... its hard. It takes me about 30 seconds to type my own name...

I'm going to try and order a Dvorak keyboard off of ebay to make it a lot easier.

This one was drawn in English class today while we were watching Shindler's List. I of course was not watching it... and was drawing a comic. However I didn't have any blank paper on me so I had to steal some lined paper off a friend and draw it like that. I dislike drawing on lined paper for comics because it looks silly, and it makes it so the boxes are pretty... even (and that I don't like, I like my wonky boxes).

Anyway so I scanned it in in 2 parts, but went into photoshop and did some editing. I got pretty lazy and sick of doing that so I just did basic stuff towards the midpoint.

I was sitting on the bus, and got an idea for a funny little comic. So I sketched it out using my laptop as a table. Since it was on the bus however it gets kind of sloppy in places. I technically drew two parts of the comic on the bus, and just scanned and touched up (some minor things; I had to cover up other doodles and accidents made because the bus is bumpy, and some of the really dark erased bits) both of them.

The answer is yes. Blogger "Tiggerboy" (he's got a blog, a lot of people read it, you could call him "well known") has had his xbox 360 die or be broken 4 times. The most recent time it Red Ring of Death'd. I am really curious to know what he has been doing to break his 360 so often, but anyway.

So to commemorate this sad day, he had a funeral procession, to pay homage the life of Xbox 360 the Fourth before it is to be shipped off back to Microsoft so they can breed Xbox 360 the Fifth. Master Chief did the eulogy and all the systems turned out to say their final goodbyes...

On a personal note:

I came down with a cold, which fucking sucks. Its not the ordinary type of cold either, its one of those bitches that give you a headache and when you lay down the get up later, it feels as though your head is extremely heavy, like its full of water. So right now my nose kinda hurts and is chapped, and all I have to put on it is that stupid Goldbond (which fucking /stings/).

Anyway so I watched the first 2 seasons of Doctor Who (again, for the 4th time) with Peyton on Saturday and Sunday from 12-10pm, and good times that was.

The point is: I didn't see her Friday [and regrettably didn't see Chris either]; so I had from 4-3 Friday, 7-12 and 10-12:30 Saturday, and 9-12 Sunday to game. This meant that I beat another one of my borrowed games (The Force Unleashed. If you add Fable II, which I borrowed earlier, that makes 2 games beaten in 1 week) so I can now return that for another one. More importantly it finally gave me time to play The Darkness, and some of the other games I had 0/1000 achievement points for (it just looks bad to have that + I wanted to play the game). I quickly gave up on playing Rainbow 6: Vegas, and Splinter Cell DA (DA sucks, and Vegas just wasn't what I wanted to be playing) so I sat around and played The Darkness. This game is a lot of fun surprisingly, apart from the fact that the main character looks like a complete tool.

However that isn't the point of this post, its to point out that if you look to the right, under the nice little thing showing that the lag order is still in effect, you see my gamercard, and the gamer score has reached over 10, 000 (no thats not a cheap dragon ball Z comment). I got more then 1k this weekend alone; The Darkness netting me 405 for far, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed netting me a cool 625.

My friend asked me how to put movies onto a Ipod video, because apparently it isn't a really simple click and drag type thing. When I couldn't come up with an answer (having opted out of getting a video ipod) and none of my video-ipod wielding friends were online I went to the next best source of information: google.

While typing in "how to put videos on an ipod" I noticed a very amusing set of search results come up for "how to" and "how to put", see below.

For "how to" there are some pretty understandable searches "how to tie a tie", "how to make a website", "how to write a resume", "how to draw". The fac that there are some sensible ones, means that there are some that just make... no sense at all.

"How to kiss" - 64.7 million results on how to kiss?! what the hell... Before peyton I hadn't ever kissed anyone, but that still doesn't mean I needed to google how to kiss. That is kind of sad... but still my first thought here was "Arrgn"
"How to get pregnant" - the leading cause of pregnancy is sex. I was pretty sure everyone knew how to get pregnant...
"How to vote" - Well... you go into a public building on voting day and check a box. I can't even vote and I know that.

Well this one had some of the handy things that I was looking for, and some very common questions. However there are also those fun stupid ones:

"How to put on weight" - I thought that was self-explanitory: eat a lot of food, don't move around a lot, and who in this day and age wants to put on weight (except me).
"How to put on fake eyelashes" - those look stupid anyway, and there are directions on the back of the boxes...
"How to put on a condom" - ... I didn't think it was that complicated > Unroll, roll on, and go. Apparently not (I was curious and clicked on it, and got an interesting youtube video). You need to do a whole lot of things. (1) Check the expiry date (2) push down the middle of the condom wrapper (with the condom inside), if there is an air bubble that means its all good (3) rip the edge but not too much, because you might rip the condom [its a bad idea to use your teeth] (4) roll the unwrapped condom up and down, to figure which way it properly unrolls. (5) place the condom on the erect penis, pinching down the tip (6) roll the condom down said penis, still pinching the tip.

In the end I just learned something new, didn't actually find out any ipod related

See that sounds sexual, and fun, very different from the real game.

I just finished playing Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. This game looked pretty nifty from the commercials, it seemed to have the same physics engine as crysis but... with the force...

Anyway, ill get to a review (if you want the basics, skip to the white at the bottom):

This is one of the rare games that you can beat it on the harder difficulty and get the achievements for beating it on the difficulties below that. This means I figured "why not, Ill play through on hard, and get a good 75 (beating it on easy) + 100 (beating it on normal) + 100 (beating it on hard) and + 20 (getting the good or evil ending)". For this game hard isnt the hardest difficulty, after you beat the game once there is a sith master (really hard) difficulty available.

To start off you go through a prologue as Darth Vader. What this means is: you walk real fucking slow. Oh and getting to fight wookies, which hardly seems fair that a guy wielding a plasma-blade should be able to cut wookies into itsy-bitsy-bits: nope, they just kinda... fall over... real easy. Anyway because your given fully powerful Darth Vader its a cakewalk and a half, even on the hard difficulty. It ends with a moving battle against some random-ass rogue jedi, then Darth Vader picking up some kid and killing some stormtroopers.

The first part of the actual game you play as that little random kid (now named: Starkiller. who the fuck names a main character STARKILLER and thinks that is a good idea?) from the DV prologue, all grown up. First you have to go through some stupid tutorial on how to use force throw. Then you get chucked into the some star station as Starkiller - who is wonderfully crappy in the force ability section, only having force push, and force lift. Here you have to fight both Rebles and for some reason you need to fight the Imperials too. Anyway you go through the level, but apparently the Jedi were careless and dropped 15 holocrons around for you to pick up and nicely give you experience boosts (oh yes, it has an experience/level system... although you level up but don't have an actual level). Levelling up grants you one point to put into each force upgrades, meele skills, and buffs. At the end of this level you have to battle some Jedi that apparently thought he was going to be fighting Darth Vader and got lame-ass Starkiller. The fact that on the hardest difficulty you can kill this jedi by shoving him all over and jumping about as Starkiller, clearly shows that this Jedi couldn't have stood any chance against Vader. During this fight you get detached from the space station and you and him fight in the falling observatory as it plummets toward the surface, and apparently you somehow can survive it crashing into the planet.

The next level is some crazy ass scrap yard place where you fight a bounty hunting species and crazy 'force powered' robots. By now I've only died like... 20 times... but this is where it all goes... well... badly. About half way through the level there comes a huge junk-giant. This thing has the ability to kill me (on hard) in 3 hits. The best way to damage this thing is by throwing energy coils at it with force throw, however apparently the lock on for force throw decides to send it flying towards well... more of the energy coils - destroying more of them. This took me a frustratingly long amount of time and a lot of deaths because well... its stupid hard to fight something that takes about 2 minutes of continuous-uninterrupted lightsaber attacking that can kill you in 3 hits. Oh not to mention every time you die you have to restart back at a check point that means you have to re-watch the ingame cutscene again (every time). After you beat that you end up having to fight 3 more (at separate times) later in the level. Then you go onto a boss which is... well... just easy once you figure him out. He's this little shrimpy bastard that jumps all over. By now you have unlocked force lightning so all you need to do is force lightning him, and then force throw him off the edge a bunch of times (because you die once from going off the edge, he takes 300 times).

Anyway by now im getting pretty friggen sick of the game, and have realized that all the normal badguys can all be easily killed by force throwing them around.

The third level was some jungle piece of crap, where you fight some really stupid limier monkey type things that are able to kill you pretty fast if you don't throw them away first. Also if they have a 3 hit combo which if you don't block the first one, you get hit with all 3 parts of it, and that is about 2/3 of the health bar. Anyway this level was balls, considering you have to fight 4 Rancors in the course of it, 2 of them at once. Now, if you know star wars you would know that the Rancor is that big ass creature in Jaba's palace, however you still wouldn't notice these rancors:. Once again George Lucas rapes our childhood. After you fight all of them you have to fight some stupid orange chick. Now you have force pulse, which is like force push, but you use it when blocking and it goes "BWOOSH" out all around from you. This is a stupid battle again, because there are little bubbles on the ground that do about 1/6 damage to you if you hit them. However once again she's a piece of cake, force repulse sends her flying then from there you can force lift her and slam her into the ground bubbles to do some OK damage to her.

Blah, Blah, Blah, some stupid shit happens and then we skip ahead some levels. Somehow you end up captured in a hospital room, and you have to break out. When you do a force field goes up and some gas pours into a room - which kills you rather quickly. To get out you have to spend a good amount of deaths just to find the power supply for the shield so you can deactivate the shield. Now you have to escape the space station filled with Imperials. Sounds easy right? You know... just force throw everyone around, easy. Ha! No! Lucas Arts decides to invent a couple new types of troopers, just for this game. First are troopers with shields, which generally can fully block any force power you throw at them. Second are purge troopers; these are 8 foot tall giant steel stormtroopers, with arm shields (which can block pretty much anything while raised) and a heatseeking missile that kills you in 3 hits - and which has the ability to kill you quite quickly, considering it will knock you down if it hits you, and then by the time your bastard gets back up the purge trooper has fired another one.

Then some random shit that I don't remember happens, because by now I'm starting to hate this game, and the only reason I still played it was for the achievements.

I'll just skip on toward near the end of the game. At one point you have to stand around and pull down a Imperial Star Destroyer. Now that sounds like a blast... but its probably the single most infuriating thing about this game. I'm just going to start by saying: Yoda took a bit to pull a xwing out of some mud, so how random-ass Starkiller can pull down a huge spaceship confuses me. So anyway for this part a whole bunch of tie fighters fly at you and you have to jump around and force lightning them. After all of them are defeated you are told by the floating voice that you need to rip the star destroyer out of the sky. When you try to force grip it, you get little joystick pictures that you have to follow to put the stardestroyer in the right position to pull down. These joystick commands are really stupid because they suck. The joystick pictures will eventually show flat, so you would think "alright, its in the right position". If only that were true, because know you have to guess a whole lot to get it perfect (everyone knows force powers are finicky), then you can start pulling it down. You have to do this quickly because the tie fighters come back and you have to stop pulling and fight them. It takes about 4-5 times of destroying the tie fighters, re-righting the star destroyer, and pulling it, to actually crash this. That is you know... if the game works properly. Sometimes the tie fighters come back extremely quickly, sometimes the directions don't work AT ALL, and sometimes it just wants to be stupid and not let you do it. This took me about... 50 minutes to do, thats how fun this was...

Then some more shit happens and you end up inside the deathstar. This game is supposed to take place between the third and forth movie so I'm not sure why they have a fully operational Death Star. The very beginning of the level you start off in a hanger with 2-4 purge troopers, an AT-ST, 3 snipers, 4 Gatling guns, and a whole lot of storm troopers. This hanger has been called "The Hanger of Death" because there really is no way to do fight your way out on a difficulty higher then Normal. You have to just run away. Anyway so then you run through the deathstar, and have to go down one of the firing tubes... while it periodically fires. Now not only is this part stupid, and involves a lot of running and hiding, it also doesn't make sense that the Death Star is firing at all. Later in the level, aftar a whole bunch of stupidly stacked against you fights you have to fight Darh Vader. He doesn't take all that long to beat but this has a stupid ass throw move he does any time you jump. This move cannot be dodged, and cant be broken out of, no matter how fast you press the action button. After you beat him you get some stupid ass cutscene, and then the choice to go and fight the Emperor or Darth Vader again. This leads to either the good ending, or the bad one. Seeing as my game glitched here, I was forced to fight the Emperor. To sum this up quickly: I died about 30 times before i gave up and reloaded my game. Which meant I had to do the first Darth Vader fight again, and the game didn't glitch this time, so I was able to fight vader. Yippie. So I killed him and beat the game, and scored some pretty sweet achievement points.

This is one of those games that really needs to be patched to fix all its friggen bugs. That or it needs to be incinerated in a fiery pit. Infact this was probably one of the only games that I have felt like burning half way through, and I might have if I had owned the game (seeing as I had just borrowed it). The game actually only consists of like... 4 levels, you just end up going back to them.. yay. The game's gap in difficulties is ridiculous, but that still doesn't change the fact that almost all the bad guys can be dispatched by force throwing them around.
In summarization: if this game didn't have some fun achievements I probably would have stopped playing it.

I generally end up email many companies and such with questions/concerns. Usually the big companies get back to me, because the questions pertain to buying their products; even the ebay sellers will get back to me with the answers to my questions. I have so far emailed Kotaku on many occasions, emailed Dinosaur comics twice, and some other miscellaneous web sites a couple of times; never have I had a reply.

The other day I was thinking of something to get my friend for christmas and thought "I'll get 'em a really cool something". Then I thought "a really cool present would be to get a mousepad with xkcd's map of the internet on it". When I looked at their site, they didn't have one. My next thought was "I'll just check the internet to... you know... make one". Aparently if you want to make a mousepad, you need to order 500 of them. I asked around, and aparently some stores will make mousepads. So I could make the xkcd mousepad, however I emailed xkcd to ask if they had any plan of making one, or if they could... I donno... make one for me. Seeing as generally emailing websites failes, I didn't have much hope.

They emailed back... /swoon.

So I just came home from donating blood at the school, it was a blast as always: cookies and orange drink for a little bit of blood. Ian Thompson passed out (I think) by the way).

I popped open my browser, which now opens to Kotaku by default, and found something that was totally worth getting a little bit more behind on homework.

When I read something with the title "How to meet a girl in World of Warcraft" I immediately think "Matt Davis". Felicia Day answers that question (she writes and stars in the web-show "The Guild"). Instead of linking it, because who likes to follow those, I did the good 'ol [ctrl]+[c] method.

So what advice would you give to guy trying to meet a girl in World Of Warcraft?
Well, most of the female avatars in World of Warcraft are actually guys. So if you're a guy looking to meet girls, you need to make sure to put the person you're interested in through that vetting process. And if you're a girl, be prepared to fight guys off with a stick because there's a lot more of them than there are female gamers. You should join a large guild and pair with other people to go on missions. Try and meet people who are on your same level.

Would it matter to you if the guy's a noob?
Yeah, I hate to say that, but if you're a noob you probably won't get a second glance. Just like in real life when a guy drives a Ferrari, it might not be an automatic thumbs up, but it does catch the eye. So if you have the Ferrari of broadswords, yeah.

That's a big plus.
I mean, it's not necessarily a big plus, but it definitely gets you a second look. Whereas if you're in some torn cross-stitch pants, you're probably not even going to be a blip on the radar.

Sure, you wouldn't want to be seen with a guy like that. Probably not.

Would you recommend a gift?
Like an enchanted broadsword? You could definitely send a gift or two through game mail, but I wouldn't just keep sending them. Helping someone out on a quest or helping them level up would definitely be appropriate and a good way to get their attention.

So what do you look for in the avatar of a potential guy?
Your set pieces need to match because I like a guy with detail. You don't want to look haphazard. I understand when you're leveling you need to take what you can get, but there are always ways to refine the way you look. So tailor your look so it is not horrible-looking together with your set pieces and your equipment. And I would say if you're wearing a pink princess shield, that's probably not a turn on.

So you like more macho characters?
I would say no because in the avatar world guys tend to look like Cro-Magnon men, and that's not a turn on, at all. A guy needs to look not too flamboyant and not too Cro-Magnon. It's a fine line.

What about lolz speak and emoticons?
Would you consider that a turn off? If you're using it all the time like, "I can Haz Cheezburger?" that's definitely a bad thing. But I think there are certain things like LOL, ROFL and the smiley face that's just the colon and parenthesis at the end of a sentence that pretty much accepted as normal. But elaborate emoticons where you add a nose and a tongue, I associate that with teenagers in AOL chat rooms. Also, you have to be able to spell. That's a big thing.

So has anything ever happened to you in real life like on "The Guild?"
No, I haven't had any people show up on my doorstep. I have had people get my IM which I ignored and blocked, because my IM is pretty sacred. And I had a couple of people who would send me free things through the mail, the game mail. Like, you know, cooking me some spider cakes, or kababs.

In the game mail. Not in the real mail. I've had some strange e-mails, but other than that I think people are pretty respectful; I'm in a pretty safe guild though.

Have you ever dated a guy you met on WOW?
No, I did have an online boyfriend when I was 16 or something, but that was through a bulletin board versus a game. I do know people who have met online and have even married online. They have a tuxedo and bridesmaid dress in the WOW you know.

How important would you say non-WOW interests are?
You probably don't want to just talk about WOW all the time, but you did meet there and you have that in common, so you shouldn't feel like there's something wrong with talking about it.

Is there anything you'd like to add?
I think you should definitely take it offline. I dated a guy once who had a great speaking voice but there was just nothing there when we were together. That happens, people have "keyboard chemistry" as I call it in the show and they get together in real life and it's not what they were expecting.

Evolution of Samus

Samus Aran: Hero, Bounty Hunter, Hottie. She has been a member of the Nintendo gaming world for 21 years, and has crossed every one of their systems; each time evolving in style, look, power, and sex appeal. Most people can remember how far back samus goes, but most do not remember what she looked like.

1987 - Metroid (NES)
Samus' debut was of course, here, on the NES in 1987. The majority of people reading this probably arn't old enough to have played this when it first came out, but some of us have played it since. At this time, this was a revolution in gaming. It shared the standard style, but had something entirely new - a female main character. At the time (and kind of now still...) this was unorthodox, but Nintando didn't go right out and say "hey this character is a female". They waited until the very end of the game to reveal that this badass alien-hunting bounty hunter you just played as is... a woman! Even though... technically in the beginning it was hard to tell if it was indeed a woman everyone was looking at. In this game Samus is essentially just some orange squiggly blob, in fact it could even be though that Samus herself was an alien, because well... who could guess that was a power suit? When she takes off her armor however, you can clearly see some breasts, some hips, and a lot of pink... what a fashionable woman that Samus is.

Although the thing about this game is: really to find out that Samus was a female, you had to beat the game quickly. This lead to most people being told about Samus' gender by some friends.

1991 - Metroid II: The Return of Samus (GameBoy)
Ah yes, four years later comes the return of Samus. With this game came some better graphics, a more defined power suit, and of course: a sexier Samus. Although this game is in black and white, it was significantly more popular then the original Metroid, and many people have fond memories of playing this game.

Samus is much better defined in this game. You can clearly see that its a suit of armor, and if you beat the game quickly, you get quite the scandalous (I'm talking about then, now girls pretty much go to school like that) image of samus. Here she has swapped what looks like a bathing suit (from the first game) for a very revealing strapped-tank-top and panties (and no shoes). I guess you have to be pretty much naked to operate in a power suit...

1994 - Super Metroid (SNES)
Samus hops from the handheld back to the console once again, and from black-and-white back to colour.

Samus' power suit once again gets much more bitching, and now (if I remember correctly) gains the ability to curl up into a ball. It is getting significantly more detailed and the colour scheme has changed a little bit. More importantly, once again if you clear the game quickly, you get another little snippet of suit-less Samus. Now apparently with the armor upgrades she can wear slightly more clothing, have boots on, and let her hair grow longer. She is now wearing a black jumpsuit, instead of pink. It could be just me, but I'm under the belief that Samus looked better in the second game.

2002 - Metroid Fusion (GameBoy Advanced)
Alright, Samus is once again back on the handheld, and this time in colour. With a dramatic 8 year gap between the last game, this game had a lot to make up for.

For some reason, it looks as though Samus' armor took a step backwards. Ignoring the colour of it (in this game, if I'm not mistaken Samus gets infected with metroid or something) the armor is less detailed and more blocky. Samus herself however has matured into an extremely flat tummied woman. Aparently she decided that wearing panties under a suit of armor was a bad idea, so decided for booty shorts. Never fear though, she cut the length of the top garmet so it comes just under her breasts. Also she is through her "goth" phase from number 3, and decided to wear blue instead.

2002 - Metroid Prime (Gamecube)
Once again Samus hops back onto a system. It appears that to make up for the 8 year gap, they decided to release 2 games in 2002. Anyway, this game was the first time that Samus had ever been fully 3d, and also that a Metroid game was a first person shooter.

Seeing as this is the first time you see Samus' full body, you now see what her helmet looks like. In the first couple of games, it looks like it a very round and bulbous shape, but now it is an actual helmet, and a damn cool one. However, becuase not many people had a gamecube, this game wasn't too widely played. To my knowledge Samus never actually takes off all of her armor, just the helmet. She now keeps her long flowing hair in a pony tail, and looks... kinda pretty? Thats about all that can be said...

2004 - Metroid: Zero Mission (Gameboy Advanced)
I have concluded that Samus has a system > handheld > system deal going on. Either way samus again becomes a side-scrolling shooter, and is better for it (in my opinion).

Samus in this game now has the standard helmet, instead of the bulbous front... thing. Her armor is just pretty much a more refined version of the gamecube's. Samus without armor is an entirely different story. She seems to have decided that clothes = good, and has put on a body suit - known as the Zero Suit (I wonder why.... it couldnt have anything to do with the name of the game...).Her hair is still in a pony tail, but is let a little loose around the sides and such, and looks much more attractive for it. Even though it is kind of hard to tell, somewhere along the lines she got a boob-job, since her chest got bigger.

2004 Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (GameCube)
See? told you she goes from system to handheld and back. From here on however all the games will be first person shooters.

Not much to say here, the armor is pretty much the same, it has become more vibrant and the shoulder pads have changed, but thats pretty much it. Samus' hair seems to haev gotten shorter, and she seems to have gotten less attractive; also: her zero-suit isn't as clingy.

2006 - Metroid Prime Hunters (Nintendo DS)
This game was the first of the Metroid games to be multiplayer; where you can play as other bounty hunters and fight. Not quite sure as to the actual story-line of the game, except that the multiplayer was pretty fun, and the controller scheme sucked.

Her armor seems to have gotten a duller colour to it, and it the shoulder pads have gotten less spikey. Once again Samus' suit has gotten more glossy, and her hair seems to be shorter in the front, and less combed in the back.

2007 - Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii)
It saddens be that the Metroid games stayed to Nintendo. This is because the Wii was pretty much a failed attempt, and not many people played this game. It was the best of the prime series.

During the transition into next-gen Samus seems to have lost some weight, seeing as her power armor is more 'fitting'. It also lost the spiky shoulder pads for a ridged set. The armor looks much more hightech, but like all things that are hightech it looks more breakable; it doesn't have the same bulk. Samus' power suit seems to have gone back to the lighter blue colour, and the more skin-tight version. She also seems to have lost some midsection weight, but her bum seems to have gotten bigger. Her hair also has gotten to a brighter shade of yellow. As well, when outside of the armor she has a power-whip-pistol.

2008
By now Samus has become quite sexy, and is infact probably the sexiest video game character. She has become more then just a video game character, she has become a nerd sex-icon (kinda). If you ask any nerd if they would sleep with Samus given the change, the majority will say "HELL YES" (including me).

See what I mean by sex icon? and those pictures were only found on deviantART. A quick google revealed that there is Samus hentai, and a couple of Samus-related sex-comics. A quick forum post on an anime site (apparently most anime-kids look at hentai, so this is a good place to find out information) shows that surprisingly there isn't as much Samus-related porn as you would think, someone who has been around for 21 years and is smoking sexy should have quite the amount. Apparently anime and video games that younger kids are into get the porn-spotlight (Final Fantasy VII +, Naruto, Bleach, etc).

Everyone reading this (and the huge amount of people not reading this) are using an Internet browser, that much is obvious. Some might be using Firefox, some might be using Internet Explorer, some might be using Opera, the list goes on but which is actually the best?

Based on my research of 7 browsers I will go into the on-the-surface details of each, then decide which I prefer, or what I like about each. I will link to each site, so if your using a browser and you see a better one here, go ahead and feel free to download it, and remember its OK to have more then one, I have 7 running after all.

However I will only be blogging about the 5 main browsers.

1. Internet Explorer:

As soon as everyone gets their windows PC it comes with Internet Explorer, which makes it one of the more popularly used browsers. It also means if you want a new browser you have to use Internet Explorer to get it. As well it is technically (to my knowledge) impossible to uninstall Internet Explorer from your Windows PC, as it is ingrained into the actual OS.

First lets start with the basic look of it:

Its generally a pretty basic UI (User Interface). Its default search engine is Windows Live Search (more windows products). Even though Internet Explorer is generally used by the more computer illiterate people (adults 40+) the address bar is close to the top where it is harder to notice, beside it are the generally small backwards and forwards buttons, and the harder to notice refresh and stop buttons. Also the home button isn't in the general location. They also feel the need to place to take the usual file-help toolbar and move them (which caused the shift of everything upwards) and put them in a harder to locate and use drop-down menu, nowhere close to their general location (that everything Windows uses).

Recently Internet Explorer caught on that tabbed browsing is a lot more useful then having to open multiple windows, so they added that feature in. It is located in the general and easy to click on area just above the browsing area. However as you open more and more tabs they only extend to a certain distance, and then they get smaller, and smaller, and smaller until all you have are the tab icons for each one, and then they run off the page. When you go to close your window (when you have multiple tabs open) you are prompted with:. To actually save all your tabs for your next time, you have to click on "show options" then on "save tabs for next time". Most people don't realize this, because drop-down menus such as these generally contain information on what your closing. Also if one of your tabs screws up, all of Internet Explorer will have to shut down; when you reopen it, you have lost every one of your tabs.

Also to my knowledge it is impossible to customize Internet Explorer. You cannot change the look of it, or add widgets/add-ons.

The speed at which Internet Explorer loads from the desktop to google (one of the fastest loading web pages) is about 1-2 seconds on highspeed. To load webpages it is generally quite slow, unless they are the more frequented pages.

Internet Explorer's main issue however is its inability to protect you. With IE almost every site you go to will install a tracking cookie (and its hard to turn this feature off). When going onto sites where you will generally get some nice spyware there is no warning what-so-ever. Internet Explorer also has a very low-guard pop-up blocker, meaning more and more spyware will make its way onto your computer. The amount of pop-ups and lack of warning, and overall lack of security measures what-so-ever mean that you are at a higher risk for viruses.

Since the next one to be reviewed is Mozilla Firefox, here is a security comparison chart.
Internet Explorer verdict: Epic Fail.

2. Mozilla Firefox:

First of all, Firefox has one of the coolest names, and a very cool logo. It isn't large and obnoxious, it has symbolism (firefox + the world = Firefox is used world-wide), and the colours work with any background.

Alright now, the FireFox UI:
If you ignore the bookmark toolbar tabs, and the stumble tab, it has a very simple UI. The forward and back buttons are slightly larger (so easier to find and click on quickly), and right next to it are the refresh, stop, and home buttons. The task bar is easy to locate, and the default search engine is Google. It has the typical toolbar (file - help) in the standard place.

Firefox has a tabbed browsing system as well. However, when you open multiple tabs, they only shorten to an extent, and then they go off the page, allowing you to scroll along your tabs with a clickable arrow, or a dropdown-menu. You can also get an add-on that allows you to ctrl+tab your tabs, or have thumbnails of each appear. Also when you go to shut down your Firefox window, and you have tabs open you are met with this window: so you can save your tabs, and have them nicely pop-up for the next time. However, if one of your tabs crash, it brings down all of Firefox. The good thing is: they automatically save, so when you re-open firefox it asks you if you want to reload your tabs from last time. The one issue with it's saving program is if you have multiple windows, with multiple tabs, open and you go to shut down FireFox, your only option is to close them all or cancel. The way to get around this though, is if you just leave all of them open until you shut down your computer, it will get the same window during shutdown, and then you can save all of them.

The FireFox team is generally working around the clock monitoring websites and making sure your Firefox stays clean. Firefox has one of the best browser-based pop-up blockers, usually I rarely get any, unless I'm watching streamed TV shows, and then its only 1 in 5 times generally. It also means that spyware is rare to get from browsing on Firefox.

When your downloading something on FireFox, you get a little download window. This will tell you how many things you have downloading, how far along they are, everything you have previously downloaded, the ETA on your current downloads, and if you double-click on any of the items it will open them.

Firefox also happens to have an incredibly fast load time. For just browsing articles, web pages (without movies) etc, they generally open instantly. Flash games take 1-8 seconds to load (depending) and the more tabs you open, doesn't effect the general speed that greatly.

Even though Firefox doesn't come with any extra add-ons (aside from the bookmark toolbar) it is possible to download many, many add-ons from their website. Here you can fully customize your firefox. Everything from add-ons to appearance. On mine I just have stumble [which takes me to a random website that matches my interests (that I imputed on download)], and extended titles [which allows me to display longer mouse-over titles].

Firefox verdict: Easy, Fast, Pretty, awesome.

3. Apple's Safari:

Safari was for a long time, apple's Mac browser. Recently (in the past year or two) apple made it so you can get it on a windows PC as well.

Safari on a Mac is a very nice program, but this isn't about the Mac one. The PC version of Safari looks like this:

The first most noticeable thing about Safari is: the fact that its default home page is the apple website. It's almost like their noticing the fact that your using a Windows PC, and going "hey, buy a mac" or the ever-so typical "buy our stuff". Next you will also notice (if you have used a Mac for any time) that the entire look of it is the same as a Mac's (except where the close, minimize, and maximize buttons are). Once again, my Desktop is already enough of a Mac wanna-be.

The taskbar area is pretty standard, although everything is smaller. This makes for a feeling that you see more of a webpage in a window. While this is technically true, it isn't much more, and the task bar is tiny. It also very much feels like the lack of space that is normally taken up by a toolbar, makes the page annoyingly large.

According to the apple site, Safari is supposed to be the fastest browser. This might be true for a Mac, but on a PC its a very different story. It took 3 seconds to start up and load google (after I switched it's homepage), and even Wikipedia loads quite slowly (2.3 seconds). It actually seems to load about as fast as Internet Explorer on school computers.

Safari doesn't allow a whole lot of personal configuration (legit 'from-the-company" style anyway). The most you can do (that I can see) is make a bookmark toolbar.

Once again, it does have tabbed browsing. However (not noticeable in the picture) the actual tab bar is quite small, and each tab gets smaller with the higher amount of tabs you open. Even though it doesn't get quite as scrunched up as Internet Explorer, it does get small enough to be annoying. HIf you try to close a window with multiple tabs, you are met with:. There is no option at all to save any of your tabs for further use. This could possibly be because on a Mac, you don't really ever need to shut anything down.

Safari Verdict: Slow, tiny, annoying. Nice try apple, but I'll stick to just pasting your stickers on the side of my tower.
4. Google Chrome:

Everyone loves Google, it is the most widely used search engine, so: is there a reason to love Google Chrome as much?

First of all, I'd like to point out: This has one of the neatest logos (next to firefox), and a name that sounds futuristic. Also, the first outright negative point about google chrome: Mac users can't have it at the moment...

Alright, so first up is the UI:

The most noticeable difference between Google chrome and the other 3 browsers so far is that the tab area is at the top. This is also one of its more negative features; even though it keeps them out of the way, so you don't accidentally click on them, they seem too far out of the way at the top. As with Internet explorer Google Chrome removed the taskbar in exchange for a drop-down menu (to the far right beside the task bar) in exchange for two icons. If you know the short-cuts then this isn't a big deal. The thing about this that Google does much better then Internet Explorer is that it doesn't have all those annoying and useless options in the menu, just the ones that are usually used.

Google's task bar is different from normal ones because instead of a search toolbar and an address toolbar they combined both. If you just type what you want to Google search into the address bar, it takes you straight to the google search page. This allows them to cut down on space, and also makes for a pretty neat feature. What I haven't checked out is if you can switch the default seach engine.

As earlier mentioned it also implies tabbed browsing. I'll start with the good here: each time you open a new tab in other browsers it just generally tells you about the tabbed browsing. Google shows you a page with thumbnails of your most visited pages, and links to your most recent bookmarks. Now for the bad side of their tab system: as you open more tabbs, they just keep getting scrunched up until they are nothing more then little lines, they don't go off the page the way the other browsers do:. When you go to close all your tabs, there is no prompt, it just immediately exits, and there is no way to reload them once you boot up - short of manually reopening them all. A very nice feature to do with tabs: each tab technically operates as its own window, so if one of them crashes, just that one crashes and has to close.

I don't thing Google Chrome is old enough to have many customizations, but I do know that you can add some extra add-ons to it, even though it comes with some pretty interesting features. Google Chrome allows you to make shortcuts to web pages on your desktop. These shortcuts are unlike bookmark links that you can put on your desktop. these load a brand-new window right from your desktop and its instant. They also use the icon that the webpage uses: . Chrome also has a special type of window called the incognito window, and you can select it from the options drop-down menu. What this window does is allows you to search the internet in it, but anything you search doesn't come up in any of your histories. While I am not sure what use this has, I am told that it would be quite handy if you search porn on the family computer.

Google chrome seems to be one of the fastest loading browsers. I experience very little downtime from page-to page while using it. It seems to have a very good pop-up blocker, and spywear provention system. I haven't used it enough to confirm this fully, but I know for certain it is much safer then Internet Explorer. It's most interesting feature to do with safety is if you go to a site that could potentially be unsafe for your computer, it warns you. You get a big red security window that says the following site could be harmful (or something like that, I don't know any sites to be able to test this out).

Google Chrome verdict: Dislike the overall feel, but damn good browser.
like: the new tab page, seperate window-tabs, unsafe site security window, the speed, addressbar searches, incognito window, website shortcuts.
dislike: The tab location, no tab saving, scrunched tabs, general smallness of task-bar.

5. Opera Browser:

I'm going to start off by saying: the name and icon suck. Most of my criticism ends there.

The UI:I am kind of suspicious that Google Chrome took a bit of a page from Opera (seeing as Opera is older) since both's tab bar is above the address bar. Another similarity, and another problem, is that once again the tabs scrunch up, and just get smaller and smaller. When you go to close an Opera window (with multiple tabs open) it gives you no warning at all, it just closes. However as soon as you re-open it, all your tabs are automatically right there.

Anyway the general look of Opera is very sleek. Using dark colours and a gloss look to form a very appealing look. It has the typical forward, back, home, and stop buttons, and also some extras (but because they're features, those will be later). The typical task bar is still there but it now seems more removed becuase of the difference between where it is, and the colour of it's bar.

Opera seems to be one of the faster browsers, in fact most tests agree that it is faster then Firefox. It loads most pages instantly (it's surprising how fast they load for the first couple times). Opera is also (from all indications) as secure as Firefox. The staff is always working to keep it running as clean as possible. When you go to a potentially fraudulent or virus-prone website a portion of the address bar goes red.

Opera has many very handy features, so the most efficient way to talk about them all would be to put them in a list:

Fast Forward - that little symbol next the the forward button. What this allows you to do is jump forward to the next section of a web page. lets say your browsing through penny-arcade's archive; to go to the next comic you would have to scroll to the very bottom and click next. With Opera you can just hit [space] (which is the fast forward's hotkey) to get to the next comic.
Rewind - the little symbol next to the back button.This allows you to jump back to a website's home page. Say your browsing IGN, and you look up a game, then the achievements for that game, then the achievement walkthrough. Normally to get back to the original IGN page you would have to hit back a whole bunch, or retype the web address. With Opera you just have to hit rewind.
Speed Dial - this feature allows you to open a new tab called "speed-dial". This allows you to put all of your bookmarks into this convienient area. Then just hit the corrisponding number key to open that one.
Trash - any websites you close go into this handy little 'internet trash bin'. All you have to do to retrieve one of them is open the trash bin. It empties when you empty it, so it stores from session-to-session.
Mouse shortcuts - these are small things you can do by holding down a mouse button, and doing a movement, or clicking another button. If you hold down the right mouse button, and move the mouse from right to left, it does the same thing as clicking "back". The same applies to if you hold down the right mouse button, and click the left.
Built-in Email Client - yup, its got its own email client, openable in the browser. It is selectable from the widget (screwdrive-hammer) drop-down menu.
Magic Wand - the simple way to fill out forms about you. You just need to imput your information once into this, and then you will have an option on any other form you fill out in opera to use the magic wand tool.

Opera Browser verdict: Pure Awesome

Closing

Even though I am a big fan of Mozilla Firefox, after this I might start using the Opera Browser. It is definitely the fastest out of them, and its sexier.

However the most preferential browser would be a hybrid between Firefox, Opera, and Google Chrome. Combining all the features of Opera, with the add-ons and community of firefox, with the at-home feel of Chome. It could be called SingingFutureFox.... or... GreyFox.

Urban Dictionary's Seen: (1) The uneducated and overtly trashy individuals version of "saw" as in, the past tense of the verb "to see" or (2) what white trash say instead of SAW

The saddest part is how commonly "seen" is used instead of "saw" (commonly up here at least, I didn't hear it at all during my time in the city). Considering the most common tense that people talk about is past tense, it comes up quite a lot. It's painful when you hear almost everyone say "seen". It makes you want to weep for the English language.

Everyone who had a childhood knows about Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z (mostly the second one). To sum it up for people that don't know it was: seizures, lots of yelling, a good time, more yelling, awesome battles, more yelling, ka-mah-ha-may-ha's, and more yelling.

As we all know, movies/shows based on anything awesome typically suck. Resident Evil, Max Payne, Eragon, etc. So by now, movie companies should realize that they should stop trying. However this next one will make them a lot of money for one soul purpose: everyone knows Dragon Ball (Z?) and everyone will want to see how crappy this will be.

So because of holly, I went to mozilla (and broke my oath never to go to their site again, after that whole hat incident) and downloaded Stumble. Its a browser function that you just imput your interests, and then your good to go. Every time you click it, it finds a web page that has to do with your interests.

I was formally using a different program that was kind of like this, but that just found articles, this finds web pages.

Yeah... even 'them Russians have gaming conventions. Not the announcement type, like TGS and Blizzcon, but that "FanExpo but larger type". That means they have cosplayers and boothbabes too... but not the awesome type you see at TGS and Blizzcon (and in Japan, they cheat). It's that crappy "I'm ugly and/or fat, so I should dress up" type.

So, about 3 weeks ago (I know, I'm a little behind) a 15 year old boy named Brandon Crisp ran away from home. His parents took away his xbox 360, which they felt he was obsessed with (I believe they watched that Doctor Phil episode). In all truth, this kid probably was quite obsessed, although the reasons most people give are crap.

Most people -> "He was part of a cult [aka a guild] that required him to be on every day, or he would be kicked out". (1) I doubt it was that drastic. (2) a lot of people are part of different guilds, its like a social circle. (3) so... something that means you have to be there every day, or get kicked off.... that sounds like.... a football team.

Truth -> he was part of said guild (don't remember the name). However this kid was also missing school, to play CoD4 (Its a good game yeah... but come on... next to no one is on during school times anyway), his parents would often find that he woke up in the middle of the night and started playing. Most days he would play for about 6 hours (these are weekdays), some would be 12 hours.

That is obsession. However the media (and most ignorant people - so the majority of everyone) have made it sound like everyone with an xbox 360 is obsessed. Actually scratch that; everyone with any video-game interaction. That's what I hate, stereotypes because of people like this. Like how everyone thinks WoW is bad because "everyone is obsessed"; there are 11 million players, about 1/16th of those may be obsessed - in most cases its just "nothing better to do", or "its fun". Or how D&D is evil, because of those kids that killed themselves - what most people don't realize is: those kids had mental disabilities in the first place.

His parents originally posted a $25, 000 reward for finding him, then Microsoft (see? they do have a heart) added to that, bringing the total up to $50, 000 (they could just buy a new kid for cheaper).

ANYWAY! This kid was missing for 3 weeks, and it was assumed that he ran away and was hiding at one of his CoD4 friend's houses. Well usually (in most runaway/amber alert cases) after 48 hours, they think the kid is dead. Well.... he was. Infact I would say he was "very dead". ~~I'm probably being offensive~~ His body was found today, not too far from his house infact, in an area police had "generally searched" because it was close to his house.

I wonder if they still get the reward for finding his body.....

Well I thought Bandit Tom had a high gamerscore and a lot of achievements. Then I found someone with almost double Tom's score...

Toms played 205 games, and has some pretty embarrassing games on his list with 1000/1000: TMNT, Avatar (to name a few). Now his score is high because he has a lot of games, and a pretty decent score in some of them. However he's got a lot of 0's and under 200's.

Ezekiel 08 has an INSANE score. 159 games played. Most of which are 1000/1000 (or close to it). However he doesn't have Avatar on his list.

(by the way: Achievements rock, don't make fun of 'em until you get a 360. They're fun, give you a sense of accomplishment, and give you something more to do in a game.)

Both of these guys are clear achievement whores. However that doesn't change the fact that even if you are an "achievement whore" they're still hella-fun, and your playing a lot of games, a lot of good ones too... and a lot of crappy "easy achievement" games. Tom's score is a bit more understanderable however. He has a lot of games played.

On the topic of achievements and achievement whores: there was this funny (I laughed solidly for the duration of the video) video I found.

Yeah... there are a lot, as previously stated, so I have to do some cleaning up. This does not however mean I will be back to my regular 2.5 posts a day (that was the good ol' ratio). I still have a lot of work to do, I still am not too impressed with what is happening in my life, and I probably wont make it past Wednesday. No, I'm not going to kill myself, but I have to drive (driver's ed) with a kid who had major issues driving around Campbellford and we have to drive for 6 hours (between the two of us) to Peterborough, around Peterborough, back from Peterborough, and its from 3:15-9:15, which means 1/2 of that will be in the dark. Anyway, to blogging.

(by the way, I don't like this format for blogging, because it doesn't look great, but I don't have an better ideas)

Also whomever it was that commented that I should take the Kotaku banner out of the background of my banner, and put in something that says "there is no cow level" should be informed that the name of the blog is in the banner. Its in the "ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED" area. I though it was a cool way of incorporating it.

1. Mario + Micky = Creepy.

Dave Bondi (some random sculptor) has "combined his two favourite character icons into one" - Micky Mouse and Mario. It is a 9" tall figurine, and its going for $65. Too bad Halloween passed, because this is one creepy tribute.
If you went "AH! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS PURE AND VIDEO-GAMEY WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!" then you had pretty much the same reaction as I did. I think its the nose that is the major creepy thing about it....

2. Who ordered the pile of shit?

Hollywood did, that's who. There has been a long line of video game (culture) movies - resident evil, silent hill, Max Payne, DoA, etc - and all have been painfully terrible. It's bad enough that they choose good games (and culture. By the way I'm referring to the Dragonball Z movie that's in the making) to make bad movies, but when they choose a game that was "not so great" and decide it should have a movie... well... that's a failure before it starts. EA already approached the "non-video-game-playing" Director, and he agreed.

3. This is my Empire.

It started with Shogun: Total War, then came Medieval: Total War, Rome: Total War, Barbarian Invasion - Rome: Total War (expansion), Alexander - Rome: Total War (expansion), then Medieval II: Total War. Each one of these games won the Real Time Strategy of the Year awards, and I personally am a huge fan of the series.

This game allows you to risk-style build armies and deploy your armies around the world, attacking places, defending towns, etc. but when your armies are attacked, you command your troops in battle.

Now the timeline progresses to Empire: Total War, where you play in the time of Napoleon and such. That means muskets, cannons, and ship-to-ship battles. The best part? In the previous Total War games you had to auto-resolve your ship battles (which generally lead to loss for the player), but now you are able to actually fight them.

Sadly it doesn't have a release date yet, but its set for 2009... there's one more thing that will empty my already meager sum of money.

It looks amazing... but im not sure it'll play on my desktop... /frown.

4. Ka-POLITICS.

Well, I already said how Obama was buying advertising in video games, but now it gets better. Sarah Palin and Obama are featered in the Mercinaries II: World in Flame DLC (Downloadable Content). That means you can have Obama and Sarah palin running around, hijacking tanks, blowing stuff up, breaking necks, you know... the fun stuff.

(P.S. Sarah Palin in real life = epic fail)

5. Grand Theft PC.

Ah... its been around for about a year, and its only now coming to the PC... sorta. Grand Theft Auto IV was definitely the best in the series (because it didn't suck) and if you missed it when it came out for the 360/PS3 then you can soon get it for the PC. You had just better hope it can handle the specs.

6. Elder Scrolls: Fuck Im Lost. Coming in 2010.

Bethesda (the makers of oblivion, and more importantly Fallout 3) have said there will probably be a new Elder Scroll game for 2010.

This seems kind of weird because Oblivion took a long time to make, Fallout 3 just came out and IT took a long time (and a lot of people are complaining its too much like Oblivion), and now in pretty much a year they plan on getting another game out?

xkcd is probably the greatest webcomic, true I haven't got around to reading a bunch of them (most of the more 'popular' ones are bookmaked) however I still firmly stand by the fact that it is, and always will be: the best.

Its written by a man named Randell Monroe (only... spelt right). He was a NASA Robotisist (you know... one of those high paying, fancy-smancy jobs) but then he resigned. He resigned so he could draw xkcd, and draw he does. He updates every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday exactly on 12:00pm.

The vast majority of the comics are hilarious. However the best are either the 1337 series, or the new (posted below, because I felt it should be) Secretary series.

Ok, so I feel as though I should explain better why my blog hasn't been updated in quite a while and probably wont for a bit longer (unless I find the time on friday).

First of all you should understand the only reason this one is up is because Im currently sitting under my covers with my laptop and blogging. I'll get to why I need to do it like this in a little bit.

I happen to sadly be in all University level courses, which means quite a bit of work. However when (in the same semester) I have English, History, and business leadership... well, theres a lot of work. I have (work wise): a History ISU (The Three Musketeers), an English ISU (The Road), part two of my English ISU (Lucifer's Hammer), an English novel (The Colour of Water) + questions, an English Presentation (on the 1930's depressions ~~and fuck I hate Mrs. Giles (in fact, I might blog about that later)~~), 2 business assignments (and I have no fucking clue what to do on them), and a Business Presentation. All that equils: a shitload of work, and technically I would be lieing if I said it took away from my free time, but throw drivers ed ontop and peyton ontop of that pile, and you have (A) very little blog time, or (B) lack of willingness to do anything but sit on ones ass (- the peyton times, then we're watching TV shows, and playing video games).

Its usually B.

THEN as of the 28th I got Fallout 3, which is by far the greatest game ever. For those of you who dont know, Ill go into a bit of detail as of WHY it rocks, and the storyline/plot. I also got the collector's edition (shown below, its just the IGN picture, I dont have time or ability right now to take my own picture).

Its a post-apocalyptic game set in 2277 (I think). There was a huge world wide nuclear war, and the subsiquent fallout from it (when the war happened is undetermined) effects everywhere. To survive, human kind seals themselves in "vaults" (which are giant underground complexes... kinda like a city, just without the open space). Years after the war, the fallout is still around, however its safe for humans to wander around, and societies have sprung up on the surface - haphazard towns, military bases, raider camps, etc.

You are from Vault 101, and you get to grow up (at a quick 2 > 10 > 16 > 19 rate). What ends up happening is you father (voiced by Quai Gon Jin) escapes from Vault 101 (because frankly... it sucks there). The Overseer of the vault doesn't like that too much, and gets his thugs to beat up and murder your dads best friend. When the overseer's daughter (who was your friend since birth) informs you of this, and tells you that they think you were part of it as well, you have to flee too, and you do escape, into destroyed Washington DC.

Thats the synopsis of the story line. Now some of the best things: (1) Its made by the same guys who did Oblivion and the Elder Scrolls games (2) Its fully 100% interactive, you can talk to everyone, every choice you make influences events, you can be good or bad, etc. (3) ITS SO REALISTIC (blood, ragdoll effect, setting, scenery) (4) 100% open, you can do what you want - be a complete bastard (like I am) or a good guy. You can raid caravans, sleep with women, blow up towns, save people from mutants, etc. - anything that makes sense will happen. (5) everything is so well detailed and fluent, the spent a long time on this. (6) VATS - its a targeting system, that allows you to stop this third/first person 'shooter' and target body parts, using you AP to determine how many targeted shots you can make, then you click "OK" and get a nice little ingame cutscene.

Instead of going into A LOT of why it is awesome, Ill pretty much say this: Its like oblivion, in the future, and about 80% better. Oh, and its better then any of those OTHER games (Fable II and GoW II).

So anyway, once I find the time I will post. There will be at least 3 huge blog posts. As it stands I have 3 firefox windows open (I dont like it when tabs go over the limit, and start compiling offscreen), because I check the news every morning, and just tab open any interesting articles up to what I saw the day before.

Promise there will be alot, and it will be interesting. Also one of the blogs will be about the Evolution of Samus Aran, so you have that to look forward too (if you dont like Samus... well.... dont read it.... I guess....)

Now Im really hot from the heat of hiding under these blankets, so GOOD NIGHT.
